About this listen

This exciting anthology includes a new novella featuring Mercedes Lackey's most popular heroines, Tarma (one of the sword-sworn and most feared of all warriors) and Kethry (who wields magic and weapons for the greater good), whose fates are suddenly bound together in blood by the powers that control their destinies.

Also included in this unique volume is the complete collection of Lackey's short stories about these two brave sisters as they answer the call of their destinies with sword and sorcery.

This book is a collection of stories rather than a novel. This is fine except many of the stories were already told in the first two books. The stories that were new were fantastic, I just feel a tad cheated about the duplicates. The stories are not in chronological order, so be prepared to jump around. The narrator is AMAZING.

I have read these books before but, this was the first time I went the audio route. The narrator was excellent and brought the story and the characters to life.

This is not really book 3 in the series but book 1, Oathbound, and the short novella that is the prequel to Oathbound, which tells the story of how Tarma and Kethry first meet.

Buy this set instead of just Oathbound and get both the book and the short novella together. In addition, there is a nice introduction by the author explaining why she invented these two characters.

Includes Oathbound and Short Novella

I have loved Mercedes Lackeys work for a long time. She has created a very rich and detailed world for her hero’s to explore.

Includes book 1 of series and a mix of short stories plus ends with the title novella. It’s interspersed with introductory comments from author.

A cook’s mixture of stories.

Don’t listen to the reviews that say there’s no new material in this. Oil. While it does have some repeat sections from books 1 & 2. It is new material. Go to the chapters to view the different sections. It’s a great wrap up of these characters and nice to see how things play out for them. I also appreciated the section about how they met. Well done again!

It is book 3. Plus more.

More than a compilation of short stories, Oathblood rounds out the myths and legends of Kethry and Tamra. It contains the origin stories as well as several bridges between the other two books. I found the final story to be a most satisfying conclusion for the pair. TheyvdonshownupninnBybthe sword, but as supporting characters rather than focus.
I read this when first published and was very pleased to find it in audio format. Well narrated and even better than I remembered.

This is the book that fills in all the gaps.

Christa Lewis is a great choice for this book. I love the way she narrates the stories and brings the characters to live. Her pronounciation of the characters sounds the most natural to me out of all the readers of the Valdermar series so far. I wish more of the books in the series could be performed by her.

Great performance for an old favorite.

Read chapters 1 and 3 first, then the book Oathbound, then this again, but skip chapters 2 and 4 which are also part of that book (though 4, Keys, has a brief opening from the accused's POV you may want to hear). Continue with the all but the last 3, which I believe occur after Oathbreakers, so read that, then come back here. One does need all 3 for the full story, as Oathbound is NOT fully included, though part is repeated here in the second and 4th stories.

There is further chronological shuffling one could do, if one cares to, but these are mainly standalone stories that can be enjoyed out of strict sequence.
