Publisher's summary

He's the leader of the mountain rescue service. She might just need saving.

Lochie

For too long, I've been alone. Just me and my daughter. Keeping her safe is everything, so taking a job in the remote Scottish Highlands suits us fine.

I shouldn't need anything more.

Yet, I'm beyond distracted by a lass.

Smart, beautiful, and living right next door, Cait McRae makes it clear she's not interested.

Every sly glance tells another story.

It's all I can do not to throw her over my shoulder and take her home.

Cait might claim she only wants to explore the physical, but I know she's wrong.

She's mine.

If the people pursuing us both don't destroy what we've found.

Cait

I always knew I was different. No one ever caught my eye.

Until a huge, scowling man moves in next door. He's the new head of the mountain rescue service and a single dad to a sweet little girl.

Turns out, I'm a late bloomer, as all I can think about is Lochie.

But someone else wants me.

A series of strange events point to one conclusion. I have a stalker, and the danger I'm in is only just starting.

The Wild Mountain Scots series follows on from the Wild Scots series with more of your favorite McRaes. Meet the brooding, tough, protective men of the mountain rescue and the beautiful women who tame their hearts.

A Riveting & Thrilling Romantic Suspense!

I enjoyed this book immensely, the story drew me in right from the beginning, grabbing my attention and captivating it the entire time. Jolie Vines is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, the storylines she created are interesting and original and the character development and world building is fantastic. I enjoyed the complexity of the characters and how easy they were to relate to and connect with, they are easy to like and care for too. Lochivar “Lochie” Ross is on the run trying to keep his daughter Isla safe and what better place to take her but to the remote Scottish Highlands where he got a job with the mountain rescue service. He will work with the McRae’s and they even arranged family members available to watch Isla if he ever gets call out for an emergency, including his new neighbor, Caitriona “Cait” McRae, but he does not get the best first impression when they first meet. Cait works for the university but works remotely from home most of the time, which makes her the perfect person to watch Isla when necessary. Isla was shy at first, but she took to Cait fairly quickly. It does not take Lochivar too long to realize his first impressions were wrong and his feelings quickly morph into something more like desire. A lot of odd things were happening to Cait, things she first wrote off as nothing but the things escalate and not just for her but others around her. Lochivar thinks it may be his past catching up to him, will he take Isla and run again or is what he is building with Cait enough to make want to stay. This is a cleverly plotted romantic suspense, there is plenty of drama, angst, mystery, action, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn romance. Jolie Vines, thank you for this terrific story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Lauren Ezzo and Frank Ryan are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that suited their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhanced an already great story to another level. Thank you for this fantastic listen.

Fresh

Fresh scenery, accents, and characters . Rather than continue the saga from where it left off, Vines skipped to the next generation. that provided familiar context and fun reminders. it also offered new personalities, conflicts, and action. as the main character joins the mountain rescue team several nail-biter rescues. the many twists made it quite engaging. I liked that I'd read the earlier novels, but you wouldn't have to to enjoy the drama.

Scottish, Russian, Italian, or Polish?

I enjoyed the story but the female narrator’s “Scottish” accent was really difficult to listen to.
I’m sure she tried her best and kudos for her commitment.
I had to go back and re-listen several times because I was more focused on what accent was being done, rather than follow the storyline. I kept drifting from a story in the Scottish Highlands to suddenly being in Poland or wondering if the narrator was having a stroke instead of trying to mimic a Scottish brogue. When I revisit this story, I’ll listen to it through Alexa instead.

There were a few moments when the accents weren’t AMAZING but didn’t distract or pull away from the story! One of my favorites!!

Amazing book and outstanding performers

This is one of my favorite books so far by Jolie Vines. The characters are well rounded and they bring you right into their story if not into their family. I love Cait and Lochie their chemistry is off the charts. I also loved the suspense that keeps you on your toes until the end of the story. Lauren and Frank really bring the story to life with their voices and make this story even better. I love hearing them and could listen to their accents all day. Overall I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves either romance or mystery or both!! Can't wait for Cameron's book!!

Great story and narration

From the first chapter to the last I was totally invested in Caitriona (Cait) and Lochinvar (Lochie)’s story. Lochie is a single dad, to a beautiful little girl, Isla and this is a genre that I have been reading more and more of lately, I just love them.

Obsessed is the first book in the Wild Mountain Scots series by Jolie Vines and it was an entertaining read. There is romance, mystery and suspense as Lochie will need to draw on all his skills as the leader of the Mountain Rescue Service to protect Cait and his daughter.

The story is well written, the characters strong and easy to relate too. I love that her heroines are strong, sassy and feisty and not afraid to fight for what she believes in. However, when it appears that she has a stalker, Cait is worried. The twists and turns woven throughout this story added an additional layer and kept me on the edge of my seat.
The chemistry between Lochie and Cait is smoking hot and there were times that my heart was in my mouth as I read. This is a roller coaster of a read that I loved.

Having loved the book I couldn’t wait to listen to it on audio and I was not disappointed. The performances by the narrators Lauren Ezzo and Frank Ryan, who are both new to me,did justice to an entertaining book and added to my enjoyment overall.

Ok story.

The story was OK. I felt like it was just a bit short of what it could have been. Just not my favorite book.
