About this listen

From the New York Times best-selling author, Ilona Andrews, comes a new tale from the Innkeeper Chronicles.

Dina DeMille may run the nicest Bed and Breakfast in Red Deer, Texas, but she caters to a very particular kind of guest...the kind that no one on Earth is supposed to know about. Guests like a former intergalactic tyrant with an impressive bounty on her head, the Lord Marshal of a powerful vampire clan, and a displaced-and-superhot werewolf; so don't stand too close, or you may be collateral damage.

But what passes for Dina's normal life is about to be thrown into chaos. First, she must rescue her long-distant older sister, Maud, who's been exiled with her family to a planet that functions as the most lawless penal colony since Botany Bay. Then she agrees to help a guest whose last chance at saving his civilization could bring death and disaster to all Dina holds dear. Now Gertrude Hunt is under siege by a clan of assassins. To keep her guests safe and to find her missing parents, Dina will risk everything, even if she has to pay the ultimate price. Though Sean may have something to say about that!

Every book in this series is better than the last!

Book 1 was a slow burn for me but things pick up in book 2 and it’s a rush. By the time you get to this book you stay up late because you can’t put it down! Absolutely LOVE!

Another fabulous story by Ilona Andrews...

This was the best book ever! But then I say that every time I finish up a book by Ilona Andrews! I actually started saving some of the best lines from every chapter as they were posted on the author's website, but realized how ridiculous that was, because I found myself copying out whole passages!
"... [She] sliced across his face with her sword.
Next to me Arland stood frozen.
I reached over and pushed his mouth shut. “Arland!”
He stared at me, as if waking up from a dream.
I pointed at Maud. “Help my sister!” ... Best Scene Ever!!! LOL ... See what I mean and that's just from chapter 2! And if I continued it would be way too spoilery...
Ilona Andrews writing is magic, they can take even the cameo character and give them life... here is something from Caldena... “You’re up early, Your Grace.”
“It’s a lovely day and we’re under siege. People are trying to murder us.” Her eyes shone with excitement. “Isn’t it marvelous." ...See what I mean, life!
So be sure to get a copy of this! And fall in love!
I just finished reading the shiny new eBook and I've got to say that while I loved reading the story as each episode was released the polished ebook edition is, well it's just fabulous! The additional 10K just gives the story it's full realized potential! Oh and the interior art is fantastic! The artist is Doris M. and she can be found at Disanthus.com .

The voice talent of Renee Raudman is the bomb ... and I see why Ilona Andrews uses her... So get the ebook for the art and then pick up the audio version...

Renee Raudman is a treasure.

Being the third book in the Innkeeper series, one would think it would follow the pacing of the other books. While still quite enjoyable, this book really kicked up the pacing and the suspense of what would happen to each character. I wish it had taken some more time introducing certain key figures and fleshing out their characters in previous books, as well as making the species in need a little less... sacherine? forced? It was sad, but over all the interaction between that species and the Innkeeper felt a bit more contrived. The consumption of the relationship also felt a bit rushed.

However it was over all a very pleasurable and interesting listen, and I am excited for the next book. The performer, Renee Raudman, has done another excellent job with character voices and creating tension. She has set a very high bar for other performers.

innkeeper to the rescue.

the narrator was great. her performance kept me wanting to listen and smiling. there are several laugh out loud moments - and I did. there were several "rip your heart out" moments and I felt that pain. Have listened to 3 books in this series and can't wait to listen to more!

Sweeptacular.

This series took me a bit longer to get into verses the Kate Daniels series. But now I'm vested and I can't wait for the next book. I even relistened to the first two and this time around the events were clearer in my mind. So far I have listened to everything out there that Ilona Andrews has on audio and I am really glad I found this author. I recommend starting with Magic Bites before this series, as I said before this one took longer for me to love. Narrator is great as always, I love her work especially with Kate Daniels.

Awesome!

Great series, so far! Character development is on point and story development just makes me want more!
Initially, with the first book in this series, I was apprehensive about the narrator. She reminded me of a blonde buxom country music singer in her accent and pitch. I realized that it was only the character's voice after hearing all of the other players through her voice.
Very good story. LOVE!

Great Storyline

I still have a hard time with the narrator's accent, but I'm getting used to it. The cast of characters are fantastic and the adorn to other worlds make for a great fantasy Bach drop!
