About this listen

Grayson Ford and Emma Kinglsey - close since they were kids, opposites in every way. He's the stuff high school crushes are made of, Mister Popular, and captain of every team. She's artsy, cute, and not in his league, though fully aware of Summerland's "I Dream of Dating Grayson Ford" support group.

"I can't say no. The girl's had my heart since before I knew it went missing."

He hides a life of hell. His father hates him; his mother's gone. Emma is his only savior, yet she doesn't know her power over him. She's the only girl he wants, the only one he could ever tell - though he won't.

"I'm stronger, bigger, more of a man than he'll ever be, but because I ruined his life, I've taken his crap, his attacks, the vulgar nature of his existence."

Then she discovers Gray's embarrassment, his humiliation. Emma fights for him and for a chance. Theirs is a Cinderella story that she believes impossible. But as the layers peel back, it's just a guy who needs a girl in order to keep breathing.

"My mind is already doodling Mrs. Grayson Ford in imaginary notebooks. He has no clue where my head is at.... But, given that I didn't see what just happened coming, maybe I have no clue where his head is at either."

Very entertaining story

I enjoyed this audiobook, but was disappointed when I found at the end of listening that it ended in a cliff hanger! This wasn't made clear in the blurb. The story itself is great, now I just have to find the next book and buy it.

5 star surprise

What did you love best about Only for Him?

I absolutely loved this book and was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the characters easy flow of narrating and their ability to express their character's emotions and allow the audience to be immersed in the book.

Gray and Emma!

Grayson appears to be living a charmed life as he does well in school, is a star athlete and is sought after by the female students. He only has eyes for one girl who happens to be his best friend’s sister but when she finds out a secret he has been hiding it changes the course of both their futures.

Emma has loved Gray for as long as she can remember but when she finds out his secret he is determined to push her away. That worked until they find themselves spending a week together with a group of their friends but a decision that Gray has made forces them apart and only time will tell if they can find their way back to each other.

This story covers the period from their high school graduation to a period three years in the future. The narrators brought out all the angst and action of this story.

Good Start

Good introduction to the backstory of the characters and the existence of young love. Short and sweet. But it is a gut wrenching cliffhanger so be warned. I will be continuing with the series because I NEED to know what happens. Great narration.

Loved female narrator!

For me the female narrator brought so much to the story. He male tones are just perfect. The male narrator on the other hand was killing the story for me. He just doesn’t do it for me. All in all it was a super cute story just hate the fact it ends in a cliffhanger. I hate when romance novels end that way but that did stop me from enjoying this book.

This book was fun to read and it had romance that started in high school. I really want to read the next book in this series.

Short and good

Rating: 9/10

Pros: The book is short and sweet and gets right to the point. There are a lot of unanswered questions and that’s because this is the first book of a series. This could have been made known in the summary or on the book cover because I was disappointed at the end when the book ended with a cliff hanger and a bunch of questions not answered. I only knew this book was part of a series when I went to got write my review. The back stories make you want to go find out what happened and consequently I went and purchased the other 4 books in the series.

Cons: I didn’t like how everything was focused on sex and needing the other person. It’s a romance book, thats for sure, there should have been some genuine and pure love and not everything focused on getting in each others pants. they’ve known each other for some time, and they have history. Couldn’t the book we about when and how they fell in love and how they remained in love over the years ? Could have been some more substance and not just erotic passages.

Eligible to be on the screen as a movie/tv series?: Definitely

good story

A good start to the series, I enjoyed it. It is a short listen and it ends in a cliffhanger, this book will make you feel. Two young people from different worlds, best friends from a young age, their relationship grows organically with the expected bumps and some unexpected ones too. The end made me tear up, when Emma gets the news. Then got a bombshell twist, I need to hear what happens next.
Ms. Sands and Mr. Kafer's voices were pleasant to listen to, the varied characters were well presented.
