About this listen

Multi-faceted narrator Jeffrey Kafer packs a punch delivering this suspenseful military romance, the first in the best-selling Titan series.

After putting her life on the line to protect classified intelligence, military psychologist Mia Kensington is on a cross-country road trip from hell with an intrusive save-the-day hero. Uninterested in the white knight act of Colby Winters, she'd rather take her chances without the ruggedly handsome, cold-blooded operative who boasts an alpha complex and too many guns. Colby, an elite member of The Titan Group, has a single objective on his black ops mission: to recover a document important to national security. It was supposed to be an easy in-and-out operation. But now, "by any means necessary" becomes his survival mantra when he faces off with Mia, a stunning woman he can't leave behind.

When Titan's safe houses are compromised, Colby stashes Mia at his home, exposing his secret—he's the adoptive father of an orphaned baby girl. Too soon, danger arrives, and Mia lands in the hands of a sadistic cartel king with a taste for torture. As hours bleed into fear-drenched days, Colby races across the globe and through a firestorm of bullets to save the woman he can't live without.

Cristin’s summer reading list is insanely long, but she always finds time to fall for new book boyfriends. When she's not writing sexy love stories Cristin is tinkering around her house, playing with the kids and dog, or trying out some new-and-absurd DIY project.

I was in whispersync heaven!

Any additional comments?

After having read one of the novellas and book 2 in the series before I decided to start at the beginning and give this series a go... AND I did this as an audiobook, which was the best idea EVER!
I honestly think I enjoyed this way way way better read to me by Jeffrey Kafer than reading it myself. His voice... is just want this book needed. Seriously! I have in fact decided to wait for the rest of the series to be published as audiobooks -cause well, Kafer's voice is too much of an enticement to pass up.
There is allot of action, alpha dudes and some pretty good smut.. a fun suspense romance. In some ways this is nothing new- oh wait actually in many ways this is absolutely nothing new. Harber has not reinvented the wheel. It isn't some great liturarly feat as well. But it is well written and rather entertaining. Especially when read by Mr. Kafer.
Which is possibly the most surprising thing ever. When I started this I wasn't so sure I was gonna like it- I mean the deep rather alpha sounding dude voice that was reading it... well I wasn't sure at all. But I thought to myself- oh well, thank goodness for whispersync
--BTW I really adore whispersync it's the best invention straight after my kindle
But as I said now plenty of times I ended up loving the narration. It's just how I would imagine Winter to sound like.
So besides the usual usual this is an entertaining action cute & fluffy with a good dose of smut. If you thinking about getting it- get the audio- I promise you won't regret it!

Action, fast paced, definite hero.

What made the experience of listening to Winters Heat the most enjoyable?

Because the story seemed to come mostly from Colby it was good to have a male narrator. He also had great inflection for the sarcastic wit.

What did you like best about this story?

i enjoyed the dialogue and the fast pace. Harber didn't waste much time developing the back story on any of the characters--which kept the pace fast--and apparently didn't keep me from knowing exactly who to root for. I'm glad I wasn't driving...I might have been pushing 80 or 90!

Which scene was your favorite?

The opening scenes grabbed my interest and I couldn't break away. I enjoyed Colby's mom "setting him straight."

Any additional comments?

I am always amazed how quick people fall into bed, but I think the life and death would have pushed them to that life affirming activity pretty quickly. I liked that there was much more story and rich characters than sex to the book. I will look for more by this author. I enjoyed the narrator also.

Unconvincing Characterization

Neither character, but particularly Winters, reads like someone who is in the military or closely associated with it. Turns of phrase and terminology that, while factually accurate, are off. The story is okay and the narrator is decent, but I kept getting pulled out by the language. The author should have had someone with the background help edit.

A delightful surprise

I honestly didn’t think I’d care for this but the story seemed good and I wanted a suspenseful romance. I definitely got it! The narrator, Kafer, was perfect as Winters. I’m def buying his next book!! Sometimes I couldn’t decipher between winters and the other alpha males but his voice is so good, I didn’t mind too much.
The story was good. Lots of action, lots of romance, and good beginning to the series that I can’t wait to dig into.

Very good book

This was the first book by this author for me. I liked the way the story flowed and I was enthralled by the characters and their interactions. There was suspense, action and romance. Everything I like in a book. I will definitely read more by this author.

A woman who wants to be called "Sugar"

This was not the book for me. I just couldn't care about a woman who wants to be called Sugar. It was too over the top. Wasted a credit on this one. Although I didn't like the plot, the narrator was strong.
