Publisher's summary

Since her divorce two years before, Kelsie Collins has been determined to guard her heart and steer clear of seemingly "perfect" men. It's an easy task considering the kind of men her matchmaking mother and her best friend, Nanci, keep setting her up with. She allows them to set her up, knowing their hearts are in the right place and that there is no risk of her letting any man close enough to hurt her again. Her growing experience in ways to slip out of those "dates from hell" prompts her to start writing a bad date survival guide: the aptly-titled Operation: Date Escape. And it's during one of those escapes that sexier-than-sin firefighter Cole Maxwell comes to her rescue.

Cole isn't sure what to think when the sexy redhead he's just "rescued" from a bad date informs him that he's too "perfect" to date. That's a first. He's had relationships end because the women couldn't handle the risks that go along with his chosen profession, but never because he's too perfect.

When his crew gets called out to rescue someone who is stuck in a tree, Cole finds himself once again coming to Kelsie's rescue. This time he's not about to let her get away without agreeing to give him a chance, even holding her high heels hostage to make it happen. She finally gives in and things heat up between them like a three-alarm fire. But there's more than passion between them, and Cole sets out to prove to Kelsie that he's nowhere near "perfect" but he is the "perfect" man for her. Can he get past the wall she's built up around her heart? Or will he end up being just another chapter in her book of men she ran from?

Great title as is.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. This is funny, charming, steamy, with great characters, and story line.

What did you like best about this story?

Loved the banter between the firefighters. The mother's intense effort to find dates.

Which scene was your favorite?

So many, however, her rescue outside the strip club.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh-out-loud teasing, and situations such as her mother's visit to the firehouse the next day. You'll have to listen to find out her purpose.

Any additional comments?

This was a great laugh, light humor, charming guys, loyal BFF's. Sometimes you just want to read a book that leaves you smiling and you enjoy along the way! That is this one. Don't miss it. The narration was really good. Sometimes the narrator has difficulty with the opposite sex characters. Not this time.

Laugh Out Loud - Hot Firemen

Being a big fan of hot firemen, I'm married to one, I thoroughly enjoyed this fun summer read. I found myself laughing out loud numerous times, which resulted in me receiving a few strange looks while grocery shopping with my ear bud in. I think one man actually thought I was smiling at him. Sorry Mister.

Laugh out loud, hilarious!!!!

One meddling mother and a best friend that would do anything for enough to drive a person crazy! The men the mom picks out for the blind dates and how she finds them will have you bursting out loud with laughter.... Don't read in public or people will think you are crazy!!!

Don't waste a credit on this one

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Something with a better plot and believable story. Could not hold my interest.

What could Lindsey Brookes have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The main premise of this story is a girl who keeps landing bad dates that her mom sets up for her. To add to the miserable story, her friend is man-crazy and can't think of anything but getting it on with anything in pants. After I got to chapter 5, I quit reading. Why torture myself any longer?

What three words best describe Therese Plummer’s performance?

Ok, for the material she had to work with.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. I wasted a credit on a book that just couldn't seem to move me.
