About this listen

A secret city where magic went to hide. An ancient evil desperate to get inside.

Once, there was magic in London, but when a monster made of hunger came to devour it all, the Uncanny were forced to abandon their home.

And so they fled to Other London, a secret city adjacent to their own, and there they hid, barricaded and isolated from the rest of the world.

For 200 years, the people of Other London have cowered behind closed doors. No one can get in, and no one can get out. Until, one day, the impossible happens: Someone from outside finds their way into the hidden city.

Verity Adams has no magic in her - she doesn’t even believe in the stuff - so how on earth did she find herself in Other London? And could she be a sign that something much worse is about to follow her? Something the Uncanny thought they had locked out for good? Something that has been clawing at the door, hungry for magic, for two long centuries....

Get Other London now for an epic urban-fantasy series unlike anything you have heard before.

Diabolically delightful...

NO SPOILERS HERE. Whenever I start a new book from any of the Uncanny Kingdom series, I know I am in for a whacky, wonderful, mind-boggling adventure. The bar is set high. Other London left that bar in the dust. If you have read any of the other Uncanny Kingdom books, you will know to expect wonderfully unique and diverse characters that are unexpectedly relatable given their Uncanny abilities and origins. You will also recognize the delightful and uniquely British flavor of snarky repartee. Another commonality of the Uncanny books is the carefully crafted, highly imaginative story lines guaranteed to captivate, enthrall, and entrance the reader. I found Other London even more beguiling, however, in that it offers a magnificent array of Machiavellian intricacies woven into the plot that add both drama and dimension to the basic premise. If you have enjoyed any of the other Uncanny Kingdom books, if you enjoy urban fantasy, if you appreciate well-constructed plots with amazing characters, loads of magic and time travel, this is not one to miss. The narrator, Heather Tracy, could not have been more perfect for this piece. She captures your attention from the very start. She brings the story and each character to life so realistically you can see the entire book played out in your mind with perfect clarity. Find the time, find the money, just be sure to find a copy of this audiobook – your efforts will not go unrewarded. I can’t wait for the next adventure in this splendid new series.

I was provided with a copy of this audiobook by the author and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.

An epic fantasy you can’t put down

200 years ago an evil monster drove magical people to live in Other London. After killing her coven members in the nightmare realm, Stella has been seeking out the destruction of the one called Mr. Trick. Narrowly escaping his clutches years before thanks to an eccentric shopkeeper, Giles L’amerie. Now the love of her life, David, is dead and the whole town has heard the monster knocking in their dreams. As a result, he is starting to have a cult of murderous followers attempting to get Giles to let Mr. Trick in his ship for a rematch. Meanwhile, a non-magical person who keeps time traveling in a non-linear fashion is the key to it all. Can Stella get beyond her greatest loss to stop her greatest challenge? Can she and Giles stop Mr. Trick once and for all? Who is Verity and how is she key? Narrators David Bussell and Heather Tracy engage readers with their unique voices and entertaining intonations. They smoothly transition between the lighter and darker parts of the novel. The plot is confusing at first due to its non-linear, fast-paced nature, but it keeps listeners wanting to piece the puzzle together. With lots of plot twists and turns, readers who enjoy fantasy, adventure, horror, and mystery will enjoy listening to this book. You will need to read the London Coven series first, however, to understand what’s going on.

Mystical, Quirky and Entertaining

I found Other London to be quite interesting and intense especially with the addition of new characters. The storyline and writing are superb and full of action packed twist that will make you go wow I didn't see that coming. You really need to sit and listen to the story because it jumps through time but it does come around full circle so you will get lost one minute and the next completely understand what is going on. The story brings back some of my favorite quirky characters but keeps things interesting with the addition of the new characters good and bad. The narration of Heather Tracy is so phenomenal that I was instantly hooked and could not stop listen because she brings the story to life it was like watching a movie. I highly recommend this book it may be long but it is definitely well worth it. This is my honest unbiased review. Excellent.

Great read!

This book has magic, humor, and evil wrapped up nicely into a package for you! It has one of the best hooks I’ve read in a long while, which instantly got me addicted. It follows a witch coven’s familiar as she navigates the guilt of running from a monster which killed her coven instead of fighting it, the monster trying to get back into Other London (where magic users live), a regular human whose life gets turned upside down when magic keeps stealing her into Other London at random points in time, and a strangely likable killer named Carlisle. Narration was fantastic! I could hear static in the background throughout the whole recording, but the narration was so good I didn’t mind it.

Amazing Beginning To A New Series

Other London is Book 1 in the Other London series by M.V. Stott and David Bussell. This is an awesome beginning to a new series which features many characters we know and some new ones. Other London with its locked doors keeping every one safe is about to change. Monsters are constantly knocking wanting to get in. Come read about this adventure, you won't be sorry you did. Like their other books in the Uncanny Kingdom, this is exceptionally well written with well developed characters you will love and hate. Heather Tracy, the narrator, is exceptional. She pulls you into the story so you can experience it along with the characters. Highly recommended. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.

good

This is an intriguing urban fantasy story that I quickly fell into and enjoyed following Verity on her danger fraught journey. I liked the twist at the end. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

Amazing

This is my first time listening/reading from this series and I really enjoyed it. I can see I would have enjoyed it much more if I had read the previous books of this series but even without them I didn't feel lost and enjoyed it. Narrator does a great job.

A Very Convoluted Story

To be able to understand this story you will definitely need the background of Reading/Listening Several other Uncanny Kingdom books or you will get terribly lost. Even though I have listened to quite a few of the Uncanny Kingdom books I myself could not figure out where Verity came in or what was happening until quite a way into this Story.
