About this listen

Since the dawn of mankind, there have been extraterrestrial entities observing our development as a civilization from afar. They have watched as our knowledge and our numbers have grown, while still feeling the need to shield themselves, as our intolerance for those who are unlike us has kept us from evolving to a higher level of enlightenment. While entities of pure energy may possess the knowledge of the ages, having traveled the tides of time and space for millennia, even they are easily enthralled by the uniquely human temptation of touch.

Throughout the universe, the occurrence of entities who crave pleasure for pleasure's sake is extremely rare, and the desire to be immersed in that realm of hedonistic addiction has even led to the downfall of many who were once viewed as gods. While there are those who have no interest in humanity beyond the intoxicating sensation of touch, there are Others who have discovered an even greater temptation...power.

As we live our daily lives, unaware of this subculture of entities who view the human experience as a recreational activity, we are often sucked into their inescapable vortex as they attempt to still their insatiable cravings, while living as Others among us.

Do You Really Know Who Your Neighbor Is?

Enjoyable tale of the "Others" that have lived among us for thousands of years, the good and the bad. It follows the life of Xirisa, an Other with a defect that prevents her from communicating with The Hive, the collective mind of the Others. Mia Cannedy is an excellent narrator with a very believable male English accent and a female Russian accent.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Great Sci-fi

Great unique sci-fi that make you wonder if others could truly be living amongst us here are earth

While I enjoyed the different accents the narrator used, at times her voice had a strange rhythm that I did not care for.

Great Story Great narration

I enjoy a good Sci-Fi book and was not disappointed with this one, the story got better and better as it went along, there was lots of characters that came into it that were well imagined by the writer and were really brought to life by the narrator, I will be seeking out more work from this Author and narrator for sure

we are not alone

I enjoyed the premise of the book that we are not the only life forms around. This book was a little slow and cerebral, which I enjoyed, but I kept yawning while I read/listened to it.

Unique Story

This is the first book I've listened to written by this author and I look forward to listening to more. The storyline is unique and very imaginative. I like the idea behind these beings being on earth for thousands of years. And how everything was controlled and balanced until she was born... So much fun!

Are We Who We Think We Are?

A truly unique take on an entirely different matrix that makes me wonder: "Can I really be sure of who ANYONE is anymore?" Although the story is supposedly fiction, the premise is surprisingly believable. Of course, McFarland's storytelling prowess immediately shines through and sucks the reader right in. Mia Cannedy's performance is quite surprising; especially her British and Russian accents. I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who enjoys science fiction/action/romance/mystery novels.
