About this listen

National best seller

Pope Francis illuminates the Lord’s Prayer, the most important prayer in all of Christianity, offering listeners a guide to living a life of meaning, purpose, and strength.

In conversation with Father Marco Pozza, a theologian and prison chaplain in Padua, Italy, Pope Francis offers unprecedented insight into Jesus’ most profound words as he explores the importance of embracing social justice, benevolence, and forgiveness in our hearts and minds.

Looking to address the concerns and hopes of today’s men and women, Our Father: Reflections on the Lord’s Prayer is a guide to living a life full of meaning, purpose, and strength. “We need courage to pray the Our Father,” writes Pope Francis, “to truly believe that God is the Father who accompanies us, forgives us, gives us bread, is attentive to all that we ask, clothes us even better than the flowers of the field. To believe is a big risk.” Challenging this doubt and fear, he issues a call to “dare...help one another to dare”.

With excerpts from some of the Pontiff’s most cherished teachings, this beautiful work offers words of encouragement and inspiration for all who are seeking hope and direction in our often tumultuous world.

Thank you so much Pope Francis for sharing us your reflections about the Lord's Prayer. You have tackled a lot of things such as the role of God the father, our biological father, family, forgiveness, the Passion of Jesus and a lot more. It filled my soul so much which is what I need in my life.

The Holy Father’s reflections on the Lord’s Prayer so often mirror and reassure my own that in listening to his words my heart breaks open again and again. I have no other words which can possibly justify or stand as placeholders for listening to this for oneself. There is grace in it, grace of being in the company of the Holy Father and of our Father and soaking in the Love of both.

I purchased this thinking it was an audio version of the Wednesday audiences that the Pope did a few years ago focused on the Lord's Prayer. This is not that! Nice short reflections on the Our Father, but line is blurred between whose words these are. Not worth a credit. Less than 2 hours of audio.

Not Pope Francis' Wednesday audience version
