About this listen

#1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jackson puts a sexy, twisty, gender-reversed spin on Fatal Attraction in this addictive tale of escalating obsession, betrayal, and violent delights for listeners of Peter Swanson, Allison Brennan, Carola Lovering and Stacy Willingham.

He swore he’d never let her go. She should have believed him.

Brooke Hastings is ready to end her six-week affair. Gideon Ross is charming and sexy, but he’s not worth throwing away her marriage and family for. So she breaks it off, hoping Gideon will understand.

He doesn’t. Gideon insists that he and Brooke are meant to be together. Finally, he backs off, but not before issuing a promise: he’ll never let her go.

Six years later, Brooke wants to believe it’s all behind her. Her family has survived intact. Gideon has vanished.

But the fear hasn’t disappeared. Brooke can’t tell how much of it is paranoia, and how much is justified, but she’s worried. And maybe she’s right to be.

Because Gideon is a man who keeps his promises . . .

This was my first book by Lisa Jackson and wasn’t impressed. There was too much going on and the characters were not great, not like-able. Overall not a great story.

Just okay…

Her novels always start out really frustrating, and with very annoying characters. I'm often close to just stop listening, but the intrigue keeps me going, and at the end it's always worth it. This one isn't different. If you can get through your frustration of the lame characters, it's worth a listen, or read. The narration is great.

A psycho story for sure

I have read and listened to a lot of Lisa Jackson novels. There is nothing in this title that reminds me of her past books. Very disappointed in this.

That aside, the repetition of Leah’s hurt feelings and the way she is so narcissistic is tedious. The continual whiney voices of Marilee and Leah by the narrator is annoying and she started out as if they were valley girls - which is the furthest away from Seattle inflection- and ended up with no accent at all. It was hard to tell who was speaking between those two characters. The character development was poor.

Brooke is a flake and her contentious relationships with everyone is over done. It was hard to finish this one.

Is this really Lisa Jackson?

I do not write reviews but wow literally the most spoiled annoying written teenager and then the mom and dad not parenting well or answering in an obvious way someone would react or respond to what she was saying. I’m not finished yet, but where I’m at in the book…Example mom saying this is my house not yours and the daughter’s reaction is it’s Dad’s house…I’m sorry but It’s her mother and Dad’s home. They’re married!? Come on!! It is really frustrating to listen to and it’s a big part of the book. The mom was just let the daughter act like a baby/brat.

Annoying teenager

The story ended. While the foreshadowing was very well done, the end still had good twists.

I couldn't stop listening until the end

Mischievous Fast Paced Thriller

In my opinion, this story was way creepier than the movie Fatal Attraction. Elijah was one crazy dude. Then, the intermingling story with Neal and Leah made everything much more interesting. You have to give kudos to Marilee too. She was one smart cookie. No wonder she was so ticked off at her mom all the time.
Overall, a great book. The narration...well, it needed a male voice also. Marilee and Leah sounded too much alike. I kept getting them confused.
