About this listen

Our Lives in Verse, Everyday Poetry is a whimsical, observational contemplation about our common life. Poems are nestled into three basic sections, “Months of the Year; Home and Family; and Everyday Musings.” There is a poem for each calendar month and for the celebration of Christmas. Poetry also includes thoughts about community, family, and regions of the country. The hard work of the farmer is appreciated. Curious considerations about the serendipitous nature of life, our duties, and genealogy capture the imagination. There is even a poem to elucidate a life truth called “The Pollyanna Principle.” Throughout, faith is a foundational presence. Prayers of invocation accompany some of the poetry. Our Lives in Verse presents thirty-five thoughtful, humorous, and joy filled poems that dovetail with the command in Philippians 4:8 to think about those things that are lovely, wholesome, and true to life.

Warm and Inspiring

Such a warm and charming book! It is easily one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. It is ideal to read as a daily devotional or as a meditation. But it can also be read like a novel. I particularly liked the poems highlighting American Independence, autumn and the Christmas season. Some of the poems were followed by an invocation, prayer, or scripture verse. My favourite section however was Everyday Musings. These poems warmed my heart brought me comfort and peace. It felt like I was being spoken to by a dear friend. I will be rereading it for sure. This is a real gem of a book would make a great gift. I thank the writer for writing it and sharing it with the world.

Love hearing the author's voice

Ann Wirtz narration makes her poetry come alive. Her reading of Our Lives In Verse is professional as well as heartfelt and comforting. Her poem of July is one of my favorites, but actually I truly love each one. Listen and enjoy!
