Publisher's summary

Ding Dong, the Technowitch is dead.

As an illegal clone of the murdered galactic princess, Dora's face would get her killed the minute she steps off her dull farming moon. She spends her days tinkering with gadgets and gears, with Tau, her kitchen-timer-bot, for company. But when forces close in and threaten her family, her escape attempt lands her deep in the Outer Zone — and on top of the Technowitch of Night, crushing her in the process.

Now a fugitive in two solar systems, Dora's only chance of survival is to find her way to the mysterious Technomage on his Emerald moon. In a place where science has advanced to be indistinguishable from magic, she must accept the help of an unlikely trio: a cryogenically-preserved girl with no memory, an obsolete theme park droid, and a bioengineered beast with a penchant for the dramatic.

As Dora realizes there's more to the princess's death than what the universe has been told, she must choose — save her family, or risk everything to right a centuries-old wrong.

Fun Adventure told Beautifully!

First and foremost, this has become one of my favorite audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. Dane absolutely knocks this performance out of the park by bringing an immersive and rich experience to the entire story. Her voice is rich, emotive, and warm breathing even more life into these already vibrant characters. The story itself is a fun sci-fi rehash of an “old earth story” and Anderson nails the spirit of the adventure. I hope to hear more from both of them, and if possible from these characters, very soon!

Quirky fun sci-fi

This was a fun take on the wizard of oz. I enjoyed the mixing of magic and technology and the different characters. There were a lot of twists and turns which I didn’t see coming and kept me entertained the entire time. I really enjoyed the main character and the side characters. It was fun to see the author’s take on the characters and what they were missing and needed. I’m excited to see what else this author will do next. I did laugh quite a lot while listening to this.

Wizard of Oz retelling!

A retelling of The Wizard of Oz in a dystopian future in space? Absolutely!

This caught my attention quickly and I loved every minute of it. As a kid I loved The Wizard of Oz and as an adult I love Wicked and this book was just perfect for me. The action and quest aspect kept the book interesting and I loved the characters and how they fit into this alternate universe. So much fun and now I have to recommend it to everyone.

Characters

Ali did an amazing job with the voices. I could build the locations in my imagination with the descriptions from the author. Fantastic work, can't wait to start the next book!

Fun Sci-FI Saga

This is a fun and well-done story. The audiobook contains music, sound effects, and a great narrator. This Sci-Fi tale based on the Wizard of Oz takes on its own life with unique twists. I thought I knew what would happen because I knew TWOO but that was not to be. There are twists and turns giving the story new excitement. I like the characters and their futuristic twists on classic characters. I enjoyed listening to this tale and can't wait to see what happens next.

Surprising and refreshing Oz retelling

I enjoyed this story more than I expected because the character arcs, adventure, and plot twists were all refreshing for a retelling. The voice narration was great too with how many characters there were to track, and it was easy to listen to. If there is a book two soon, I’ll listen to it

Interesting Oz, falls flat

The main character is far too self-deprecating. Others are given moments to grow but not so much in a way that’s permanent…or to be addressed in the highly unnecessary sequel. A lackluster climax that just didn’t feel earned, followed by an info dump that “explained” everything but had no gravitas with the characters.

Sadly this story is far too YA for me. Too much second guessing rather than telling a story.
