Publisher's summary
Then, at the age of 30, Holly experiences the unimaginable. Gerry is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Holly doesn't know how she'll go on without him, and in truth, she doesn't want to. But Gerry has different plans for Holly. Two months after Gerry's death, Holly emerges from her house to retrieve a mysterious package. When she opens it up, she finds that Gerry was true to his word. He's left her "The List": a letter for each of the ten months following his death, each signed, "PS, I love you." The letters instruct Holly to perform a series of unexpected tasks. Some leave her laughing out loud, others shaking in her boots. Whether performed alone or with her best friends, the tasks ultimately show Holly a much larger world than the one she's been forced to leave behind.
Surrounded by friends with razor-sharp wits and a raucously endearing family that smothers, loves, and drives her crazy, Holly wobbles, weaves, weeps, and jokes her way around a new life. From a fresh new voice in fiction, PS, I Love You is a tender, funny, unexpectedly romantic novel that listeners will treasure in their hearts and minds long after the story ends.

Story
Hot-shot lawyer McKenna Keaton finds herself in hot water with her own law firm when she’s (falsely!) accused of embezzlement. Placed on unpaid leave, she suddenly finds herself with the free time to return home and attend her youngest sister’s wedding activities. But it’s not all fun and games. Waiting back home is shy, nerdy Henry Blumenthal—McKenna’s high school rival for valedictorian who once took three hours to beat her at chess. Scratch that. He’s Hank Blume now, the famed documentarian, Durham, North Carolina’s, darling son.

My boyfriend is getting married. Okay, technically he’s my ex-boyfriend. Two months ago he decided he wanted a break. I still thought he was my happily ever after. On any other day, knowing he was gone for good would be the worst thing that could possibly happen. But not today. Because not only is my boyfriend getting married—his bride is my best friend. And they’ve sent me an invitation. There’s no way I’m going to attend. Not even when a deliciously handsome stranger tells me he needs to go as my plus one.

Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

I enjoyed the MOVIE better!
Usually, I prefer the book to the movie in about 99.9% of the books but in this case I preferred the movie. I still enjoyed reading the book and I think that the narration possibly had something to do with why I enjoyed the movie better but not sure.

OK, I hope the movie is better!
This is the typical sad love story book that gets made into a movie. It was an OK read but not great.

This book was a fun read
I liked this book, however it was kind of a sad slow book. It did not keep my interest in the fact that I had to know what would happen next but I did enjoy it. Not as good as Love, Rosie though

I liked it a lot!
I read this only because the movie was coming out. It was such a touching story about love after death. I was worried that I was going to cry through the whole thing, but it became more hopeful about a third of the way through. I can tell the movie is going to be way different. Hopefully, it is still as good as the book.

PS I LOVED IT!
Loved it all. The zany characters, quirky humor and heartfelt grief. I like the idea of the List. Hated leaving the car. Ended up bringing the last disc in the house to finish.

Enjoyable and Uplifting
I hesitated purchasing this audiobook because of some of the movie and audiobook reviews I read. However, I am glad that I bought it. I really enjoyed the story line. Sure, it reminded me of "Sam's Letters to Jennifer", and others, but I liked it.

Sweet but not smothering
Since the listener knows going in that the story deals with the death of a young husband, he/she should be prepared for grieving. The sweet touch here comes in the form of family and friends prepared to go the distance with the widow in some funny and unusual ways brought about by a list written and left by the dying husband. The story takes place in Ireland and the reader does a commendable job of communicating both the lilt of the language and the subtlety of meanings. Widow, Holly, is a character for whom one wants to root; her friends are funny, devoted people one wishes would populate her own life; her family is open and supportive; and there is a depth of young love demonstrated here that's refreshing. Well done!
