About this listen

And so it begins, the virus enters on the quiet feet of The Innocents.

It invades each and every one of us.

But, they say, plagues are like fires.

At some point, they burn themselves out. Or not.

Fear and rumor can be far more dangerous than the virus itself.

A new dystopian, post-apocalyptic fiction series from author Bobby Akart (The Blackout Series, The Boston Brahmin series and the Prepping for Tomorrow series). The events depicted in The Pandemic Series are fictional. They are, however, based upon historical fact.

In Beginnings, book one of The Pandemic Series, a deadly plague virus has been introduced across the globe by ISIS terrorists who are waging the mother of all wars - the Final Jihad. Dr. Mackenzie Hagan, a disease detective and epidemiologist at the CDC-Atlanta and Nathan Hunter, an off-the-books operative for the mysterious Project Artemis within the Department of Defense, join forces to both identify the disease, but also to locate its source.

After crisscrossing the planet in search of clues, Mac and Hunter realize that this infectious disease is like no other, and with the jihadists implementing the plague as a tool of bioterror, there is not just one Patient Zero, but thousands.

Mac, unwillingly following in her mother's footsteps, elects to disregard her orders which came straight from the President of the United States, and she rang the clarion bell, a warning to the world, that no one is immune or safe from the perfect killer.

Can a cure be found? Will the politicians who are responsible for protecting our nation from all forms of enemies warn the public? Is it too late? The saga continues in The Innocents, book two of The Pandemic Series.

It just keeps getting better!

This is book two of this terrifyingly realistic story. Lots of relatable characters, accurate science, and modern day references draw you in and scare the crap out of you! An apocalypse story that you know could very well happen. Check it out, you won't be sorry!

Can I give it 6 stars?

Any additional comments?

Boy oh boy "The Innocents" did not let me down. When I finished "Beginnings" I couldn't wait for the next book in the series. It came out on Audible about two days later. That's an extra star for me already. This book is so exciting. Terrorists are infecting the world hoping to accomplish the final Jihad. There are parts of the story that will make the hair on your neck stand up. They disperse the virus in ways that are indefensible. Bobby Akart is spot on with the research and in the way he wrote it. "The Innocents" grabs you right from the start and won't let go. Everything about this story will linger and stay with you for a long time. The main characters are developing and becoming romantically involved by book two. Hunter works for the Department of Defense and Mac is an epidemiologist for CDC. There is conflict within our government as to how much to inform the public, which sadly is very plausible. The entire story is so credible, I don't doubt that one day we may read a newspaper headline similar to this storyline. The narration includes 2 voices. John David Farrell always does a great job. Kris Adams is the second voice and she does a good job. I have to admit that it was something to get use too, but by about the middle of book two I was ok with it. Once again by the end of this book I was spellbound and wanted to continue immediately. I watched everyday for Level 6 to be available on Audible. It's here so I will start Level 6, book three on the edge of my seat. That's all I will tell you about end of "The Innocents" Bobby Akart has done it again. It's a wonderful, exciting and very scary series that I can easily recommend for all readers. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Happy Reading!

Superb-scientifically!

Akart’s books are so well-researched, down to the details ( I know, I live in Denver!)He weaves a believable and fast paced narrative which makes tedious work more enjoyable and much more enjoyable. (Audible) I appreciate the preppers details, too!

Great storyline and subject!

Book two keeps you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what's going to happen. Hopefully book 3 is quickly done on audio.

Amazingly realistic!

What made the experience of listening to Pandemic: The Innocents: The Pandemic Series, Book 2 the most enjoyable?

The story line itself and the narration.

What does John David Farrell and Kris Adams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Their incredible ability of bringing the characters to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had so many emotional ups and downs. There were parts I chuckled at and others that I did cry.

Any additional comments?

As we saw in book one of this series Beginnings, the world is being overcome by a disease so savage that it does not discriminate between any race. Culture, sex or age. All those who come in contact with an infected person will die! The pneumonic plague is one of the oldest and dangerous diseases ever to come into being and it is on its way to killing most of the world’s population with no cure or vaccine in sight!
I am absolutely loving this series! Bobby Akart with his brilliant writing is taking us through the steps of what “could” happen to our world. His writing shows the depth of his research to bring us not just an entertaining story but information on what to do in the event we do face a pandemic in order to survive. The characters might not be real but seem to be and come to life on the pages. As many work to come up with a solution to the pandemic, people are dying by the thousands. Who will survive and will there be a last minute Hail Mary? You will have to read this outstanding story for yourself to find out the answers and I can tell you that you won’t be sorry! This is a series that I am recommending to all my friends and family without any hesitation.

Very scary, but hard to stop listening.

I've really enjoyed this series. I think is very well written, but extremely frightening as it seems sonwithin the realm of possibility.

Virus, Bacteria, and Terrorists oh my!

I’ve read the first one. It was good. I loved the multiple perspectives in the book. This book made me think about stock piling supplies and washing my hands more. Enjoyable but it certainly stays with you...
