About this listen

Jed Walker thinks he’s having a midlife crisis. The only trouble is that it feels too good to stop.

Widowed at a young age, he’s spent his life since then avoiding any relationships that might end up hurting him again. He has his successful wedding planning business, Confetti Hitched, and a series of uncomplicated hookups, and that’s all he needs in life.

The one person disrupting this controlled stoicism is his younger assistant, Artie. He’s sweet and kind and has a funny way of calming Jed’s mind. So, when Artie comes to him with a problem, Jed moves heaven and earth to help, which is how he finds himself entering a fake marriage with the younger man and catching feelings. Too bad it’s all pretend. Or is it?

From bestselling author Lily Morton comes a story about how love can completely derail the best-laid plans.

This is the third book in the Confetti Hitched series, but it can be read as a standalone.

So good

This entire series packs a bit of a punch. I love these characters. Artie and Jed do not have the best communication in the world. Artie is in trouble right from the start because Jed is determined to keep everyone at a distance. Broken hearts are a bit inevitable but this author does not let us lose hope in their HEA. Jed has some serious soul searching to do. This is so worth a listen and Joel Leslie does a phenomenal job as always!

Artie & Jed

I had read the ebook of this audio, so the review will be similar.
Artie works at Confetti Hitched as an assistant to Jed. When Artie’s stepmother dies, she was left in charge of his late mother’s house by his father when he passed, but the stepmother is evil and she stipulates that he has to be married and live in the house for 6 months for him to inherit it. Jed comes up with a plan to fake marry. As time goes on while living in the house Artie’s love for Jed gets stronger but Jed is panicked, eventually Jed realises he loves Artie. This is a sweet story and I enjoyed it greatly.

The narrator has done an excellent job and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

Love sweet fake marriage-with-benefits story

3.5 - This review is specifically for the audiobook, which is narrated by Joel Leslie.

As always, Joel Leslie does a lovely job, especially when narrating a book set in England. One of his particular skills is making his female characters actually sound female. I always enjoy his pleasant narration.

This is a fake marriage/forced proximity book, which I always love, between boos/employee. One of the MCs, Jed, is the owner of the wedding business and also a widower grieving his loss for years.. The other MC is Artie, his assistant, who has been pining for Jed for ages. I thought the tropes were good, especially once the fake marriage turns into fake husbands with benefits, but I wasn't a huge fan of sooooo much mention of the dead husband for sooooo much of the book. Daisy was a cute side character. The paper flowers that Jed made for Artie were so thoughtful and cute - one of my fave details in the book.

Great Narrating!

I loved reading Paper Roses, but hearing Joel narrate this amazing story was priceless. Lily did an amazing job of creating a world full of love and second opportunities. Joel did such a greta job of bringing this world to life with his voice and narrating style. Defiantly a must listen audiobook.

The story had its good moments and its bad.

This took me a bit to finish because I hadn't read the story before, so I couldn't disassociate while doing other things and still follow the story.

This started good, and I liked it more than the other 2 books in the series, but the first sexual encounter between Artie and Jed was just not my cup of tea. I mean things had been stretched to their limits with the forced proximity and only one bed tropes, but them sleeping on that one bed, Jed waking up hot and bothered and deciding what the hell, I'll give it a rub, and then Artie waking also up and taking matters into his own hands and then falling into a "benefits" relationship... it was just too much.

Also everyone in Confetti Hitched so ready to believe their secret love story and not batting an eye on their also secret marriage?

Rafferty was borderline annoying.

The quirky apprentice, the ex, the accident and then Artie taking a job in Berlin.... yeah... it was just off the rails.

The story had its good moments but not so many that I'll ever get back to it...
