About this listen

Indian Matchmaking meets Date Night in this fun, romantic adventure by Alisha Rai -- “One of the very brightest romance writers working right now.” (Entertainment Weekly)

Mira Patel’s got a solid accounting career, good friends, and a whole lot of distance between her and her dysfunctional family. All that’s missing is a stable romantic relationship. Armed with a spreadsheet and professional help, she sets out to find her partner in only legal activities, but much to her matchmaker’s dismay, no one is quite right.

Including Naveen Desai, the very first match she unceremoniously rejected.

Lately Naveen’s been too focused on keeping his sick grandfather’s law firm afloat to think about love, and he’s stunned when Mira walks back into his life to settle her aunt’s affairs. He’s determined to keep things professional…though it’s impossible not to be intrigued by all of the secrets piling up around Mira.

If getting back together with an ex is a bad idea, getting kidnapped with one is even worse.

Suddenly, Naveen and Mira find themselves in a mad dash through Las Vegas to escape jewel thieves, evade crime bosses, and follow the clues to untangle the mess her family left behind. As her past comes back to haunt her, Mira despairs of ever finding someone who might understand her…but maybe, over the course of one wild night, she’ll find that he’s right by her side.

Love on the run

I am devouring this book. Naveen and Mira are reunited after she ran out on him. They redevelop their instant attraction for each other when a crime boss kidnaps Mira only to take her ex-fiancé. Love that they are working through their own individual shame to come together and solve the mystery of this amazing caper/second-chance romance.

Entertaining!

This fast paced, suspenseful romance is a charming second chance that was perfectly provocative and swiftly drew me in and kept me intrigued. Alisha Rai has crafted an engaging plot driven romance and imbued it with charm and humor and the right amount of mystery. Rai’s writing is engaging and accessible. The novel is fun and diverse, I love the family secrets and the twist and turns that all work in harmony to create build up chemistry between our hero and heroine leading to a sweet and heartfelt romance.

Fun & Entertaining

The narrators were fantastic for this story and really brought it to life. I really enjoyed the fast pace and that it was an exciting and adventurous change from a lot of the romances I usually read. Also, I’d like to thank the author for making physically relatable characters. Naveen wasn’t a super ripped, muscular Greek God, and that was kind of refreshing. Every romance hero in every novel is always described as the “biggest baddest sexiest” man in the entire story, and when Naveen compared himself to other men he knew he had his limits. He wasn’t cocky and I loved him for it.

*Mini spoiler*

The proposal at the end was perfect. I loved that Naveen got to use his love for escape rooms throughout the book.

This was my first book by Alisha Rai and I look forward to more in the future!

A Fun Ride & Great Chemistry

I’ve read and enjoyed three Rai romance novels, but this is probably my favorite. She’s great with internal and external story arcs, and the crazy adventure that re-connected our heroes was unique and engaging. A definite future re-read. Highly recommended!

Not my favorite

I rarely do not finish books, but I stopped this one with about 4 hours to go. I have really enjoyed Rai's other books, but this one just seemed flat to me. The readers were good but the story not so much. It just seemed to get more outlandish at every turn, and there was no chemistry between the main characters. I kept going with it, thinking that there would be some sparks, but they never came. Very disappointing.
