Publisher's summary

As a teenager, Jeannie MacGregor ran away from her brother’s remote mountain cabin in Wyoming and went back to live with her aunt in Baltimore. She needs some sort of social life to meet her future husband. When the first man she finds interesting rejects her, she turns to the next man who shows her attention. Is Linden Olsen everything he seems to be - suave, gallant, wealthy, and from high society, or will she just end up returning to Wyoming in a series of events that leave her reeling?

Wonderful, heart warming story

Good characterization, plot, setting. Prefer being shown feelings & reactions to told. But well told story.

Fabulous

I was mesmerized from the very beginning. Hopefully the next book will pick up where this one left off. I want to know about Arnold and Joseph and how they find love. You cannot go wrong on picking this book up...unless you need to go to sleep because you won't!

Another great listen

I am just upset I have no more of her books to listen to. I love the way she writes characters. They are like real people and speak and act credibly for their time periods. She lets you see different sides of situations, and her heroes are normal people of faith who choose right over wrong. I find it truly encouraging. It is how we should live.

I highly recommend her books.

Sweet but Realistic

I loved hearing the continued story of Aleais and Ian from book one in this series. It was a bonus to also learn the story of Jeannie after she ran away from Ian and his isolated life in the mountains. Jeannie never imagined anyone would want to marry her after she had been forced by a man she thought loved her and then having his child. But God had someone prepared to love her and accept her. Phillip and Jeannie were an unlikely pair but when God has a plan unlikely things can and do happen. Can she leave her past and step into God's planned future? This is a lovely story of love, forgiveness, and following God's way. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

The narration was well done and enhanced the characters and story.

I requested this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Good sequel

I really enjoyed this series. It was sweet, and the author handled delicate scenes with taste and class. I would love more in this series as I felt like I’ve made friends with the characters!

Past Storms

This audio book is a very good follow up to the first book in the series. I will follow this series with more stories.

Christian Historical Romance

What a wonderful emotional story of God's desire to bring joy out of mourning, and good even out of our bad situations to those who love Him! I loved this powerful story.
I thought the narration might have started out a bit hesitant and shaky, but ended strong and well done!

Another enjoyable book by this author.

This is the second book in this series. In the first, Mountain Storms, we meet Ian and Aileas. We also read briefly about Ian's sister, Jeannie, although we do not know what really happened to her. This book, Past Storms, is Jeannie's story from the time she left Ian's cabin and headed to their aunt in Baltimore.

Jeannie holds tight to her faith throughout this book. But she is rather naive about life and men. She trusts her aunt's guidance, which finally leads her into danger. Jeanie's aunt has obviously lost much of the affluent life she once had, and now she sees her pretty niece as a means to returning to that elite society she was once a part of.

In some ways, Jeannie's life reminds me of a coming of age story. When she returns to the town her brother lives in, she is far from the naive teenager who had abandoned her brother. Now she is wiser and has given up some of the dreams of her past. But her faith in God remains strong and we see how He provides for her. Will Jeannie stay in Wyoming or will she be forced to leave because of prejudice and judgmental people? Three men wish to make her their wife, but can she trust herself to choose wisely?

I enjoyed this book and loved how the author dealt with difficult issues in a mature and believable manner fitting to that time period. It was nice to see further into the lives of the characters from the first book. This is another wholesome, entertaining, and even thought-provoking novel by this gifted author.

Braving the Storm of life

This story was enjoyable and the narrator brought the characters to life. Jeannie is a teenager, when she runs away from her brother and her life in the mountains. She wants more and goes back to her Aunt in Baltimore. Things are not always better and she learns that quick. Her Aunt advises her to find a wealthy husband. She thought she did with Linden, but learns soon enough that he is not the man she thought he was. She eventually returns back to her brother and his new wife. Can she get her life back together and find true love. Time will tell.

Beautiful Story

Beautiful, inspiring, and contemplative story that mingles the classes together and touches on the timeless dilemma of reconciling our trials with a loving God. This story might challenge us to reach out with compassion and forgiveness, to love like Jesus, and to “judge not, that ye be not judged”. I enjoyed it!
