About this listen

Sarah Hastings is a rookie cop who works the night shift in Amber Forest, a small rural town nestled in the Western Pennsylvania mountains. After repeatedly responding to an abandoned and allegedly haunted farmhouse for 911 hang up calls, she discovers a dead body in a secret room. The forensic investigators determine that the body has only been dead for three to four days, but the case takes an unexpected turn when Sarah runs the victim's fingerprints and learns that her Jane Doe actually died 20 years ago.

When the investigation intersects with a larger confidential case, Sarah finds herself caught between the FBI and US Marshals and realizes that she may be closer to the victim than she thought. As Sarah’s involvement in the case deepens, she finds her career is not the only thing at stake....

Someone wants her dead.

Great Book!

This was the first Audiobook that I’ve ever listened to in a full day. I usually find myself getting side tracked and having to rewind to hear what was just said over again. I found myself wanting more from this book, anticipating what was going to happen next.

The storyline was interesting and easy to follow. I got lost only a few times trying to follow dialogue between two characters.

The only two negative things I would say about this book is 1: the narrator was very monotone and reminded me of Siri at times. Her voice was a bit boring and didn’t fit the character I envisioned. 2: I wish there was a second book or at-least more to the growing relationship with US Marshall Sloan.

It was an overall great and very intriguing story.

Suspenseful couldn't put it down

I listened to this on audible because I have two little ones and reading books is hard to do these days. I couldn't stop listening it kept me in suspense. I listened while cooking, doing chores and cleaning up from cooking. I absolutely hated when I had to put it down. I listened to it within three days because I had to find out what happened next. I love crime novels and this was a really good one. It had a plot twist I did not see coming. I hope to read more books by this author and hopefully this one will become a series. I'm already invested in Officer Hastings.

Fun murder mystery with lots of moving parts

I finished this audio book in one day. I couldn't put it down because I had to know what happened next. I do love a strong female protagonist. The characters are so real and relatable. The story moved well. I hope I'll get to read more of Officer Hastings' adventures.

I couldn’t stop listening….

What a very well written murder mystery. It had my attention from the first chapter. I finished the audiobook within 48hrs because I was so hooked on it. I’m definitely going to check out her other books & hopefully more audibles will be coming in the future. I’ll be anxiously waiting.
