Let me start by saying that I love this book and the entire series. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because out of the trilogy, this book is the slowest. That said, the character development is believable and complex enough to be interesting. Reisil begins as a somewhat whiney character, but evolves throughout the course of the book. For animal lovers, this is an awesome fantasy book that have animals play a main role (but not in a cliche'd way). Overall: Highly recommend this book and the entire series.

Great book, a little slow

not wowed, very basic story and a few mispronounced words by the reader. i am not in love, not even worth using it as a time waster.

If you are looking for a light hearted book that you can just sit back and enjoy, than this is your book!

It follows closely the mold of reluctant hero, who finally accepts destiny, and then comes to be the most powerful (like god-status) and vanquishes evil. I think their were some really nice deviations, like her romantic independence, and the capability of other female characters besides just the main character. That being said, it's still sweetly simple, and doesn't require a lot of thought. I won't be reading the sequels, but this book is complete enough to be a stand alone.

God Molding: A little flat, but fun

I just loved this novel when I found it a few years ago in my local store. The narrator does a wonderful job of bringing the pages to life.

Love this Novel

I read these books years ago and they have remained with me all this time as one of my most favored series. Our main gal loves fiercely, is stubborn, loyal, brave, kind, and smart. She is also on occasion arrogant, cowardly, timid, and self doubting. We see her grown, as well as those around her. The writing is lovely and excellently edited. The world is interesting and well thought out with phrases and landmarks and peoples that bring it to life.

The narrator played a special role in bringing new life to this most loved series for me. I enjoyed the accents which really helped separate people and brought the world and the scenes to an easily imagined, vivid reality from the comfort of my couch. Bravo.

If you enjoy magic, adventure, animals, and warring kingdoms then there is a lot for you to love in this book. The unique magic/religions will be a real treat, and the faultless prose will delight.

fantastic narrative performance

I just want to say that the narrator, Leslie Bellair, is absolutely amazing. She’s got such a pleasant voice, and I love listening to her different accents for characters. I was only an hour into the book before I had to look her up. I hope she sees this, lol.
On a separate note, the book is brilliantly detailed and, once you get used to the new words, pleasant to read. I find Riesl’s character refreshing because she’s not a typical protagonist. But she’s wickedly awesome.

Reading a paperback would have been easier. Listening to it was confusing. A lot of the characters has similar sounding names. I finished the book still confused with no desire to read the next one. Three stars overall based purely on the good performance.

Hard to listen to
