About this listen

Tales that are perfect for coffee breaks - but beware; like chocolate, they lure the listener into just one more.

Paul Michael Peters has created a magical collection of stories that helps the listener look at the day from a different perspective. This is a collection that once you start, you can't put down. Stories are perfect for anyone trying to fit listening into a busy day.

There is something about Peters' writing that is almost intoxicating and leaves you wanting more.

The light feel of the stories is relaxing and charming. Each story carries hints of mystery in connections waiting to be made. Each takes the listener on flights of well-drawn history and place and compelling characterization. A sense of parable and myth builds one story into the next, even when the path is so different. And the whole is a beautifully connected diorama of people and place.

Like your favorite Twilight Zone episodes, there's an otherworldly beauty.

Between 2012 and 2018, author Paul Michael Peters released two collections of short stories, Mr. Memory and Other Stories of Wonder and Killing the Devil. These followed his first publication, a novella called Peter in Flight, and in between his two novels The Symmetry of Snowflakes and Insensible Loss.

Paul Michael Peters: The Complete Collection of Short Stories 2012-2018 includes all his published and unpublished stories.

Top-selling author Paul Michael Peters is an American writer best known for his take on the quirky tangents and morals of contemporary life in his recent novel Insensible Loss.

His upcoming novel, Combustible Punch, is a thriller that explores the psychological dance between that most unlikely of odd couples: a serial killer and a high school shooting survivor.

A complete collection

I normally listen to murder mystery stories but wanted a change so thought I would give this audio book ago. I enjoyed as never sure what was going to happen.
The collection is made up of about 19 short stories with them roughly about half an hour to 45 minutes each (give or take) and is perfect if you just want a quick listen, say on a car journey.
Each story is individual but there is two stories that have there characters appear in three stories (one of them also appears in Pauls collection killing the devil).
There are some little gems in the collection that I really enjoyed and it covers a wide range of topics from killing the devil to catching parrots in an airport to how to get out of a dinner party.
I enjoyed the narrators as they weren't monotonous

Short Stories

This is a compilation of short stories. I enjoyed most of them and the author left me wanting more. That is the purpose of a short story. Short stories should be the seed of imagination. They should plant the idea into the reader's head, and like a seed, let the reader linger on the idea and grow. An easy listen, these stories are suitable when you're not ready to dive into a full novel. I liked starting one at bedtime or while taking a bath or doing chores around the house. The female narrator was a bit too upbeat, but not difficult to listen to.

Very imaginative, fun and varied short stories!

Wow. It was hard to believe that all 19 stories in this set were written by the same author. The stories are so different and unique, and definitely imaginative. The topics range from robots to revenge, magic to the Fukushima nuclear disaster site, pranks and funny tall tales, to several about the devil himself. They were all thought provoking, twisted, quirky and at times very funny. And they are set in the past, present and future for variety. I would have to compare them to the Twilight Zone or Hitchcock. I really enjoyed all of them and they gave me a lot to think about. There are two narrators, a woman and a man and I think I liked Paul s little better because he did pause between stories so you knew that a new one was starting and Linnea tended to run them together but overall the narration was good. I want to thank Mr. Peters for giving me the Audible code so that I could read and enjoy them.
