Publisher's summary

Views on the roles of deacons vary widely among evangelical Christians. What does scripture actually teach about deacons and their role in the church? Views range from deacons being the board of directors to the church-building maintenance crew. Strauch states that his purpose in writing this book is to encourage my deacon friends and fellow church leaders to think more critically about what they are saying, what they are doing, and what scripture actually teaches about deacons.

Whatever your view of deacons may be, this study will help you examine in detail the biblical fact on deacons, allowing those facts to guide your thinking. This book offers the opportunity to build broader agreement among our Bible-believing churches as to what deacons do. Known for his deep love for the church and for his careful Bible exegesis, Strauch's study cannot be ignored by churches that are committed to following a biblical church polity.

Great book. I will be suggesting this for current and future deacons at my church.

Insightful..

I appreciate the deep look into the role of a Deacon. It's much clearer and yet can leave you wondering if we're really getting it completely right. God be glorified as we continue to dig deeper to understand and to know you more.

Excellent Resource

Strauch does a fantastic job describing what a deacon is, what they do, and why they are so invaluable in the life of the church. He handles controversial issues surrounding the topic of deacons gracefully, graciously, and thoroughly.

Biblical and Thorough Book on the Office of Deacon

The content was well researched and biblical. The author was versed in the language of the original Greek. He explained the meaning and position of the deacon as well as provided thoughts for and against conterpoints. The audio was exceptional. His voice was enjoyable to listen and fit the nature of the text. I used the audiobook along with the print version of the text in preparation for understanding the work and qualifications of the deacon. I highly recommend both.
