Publisher's summary

A New York Times best-selling author takes a rollicking deep dive into the ultra-competitive world of youth hockey.

Rich Cohen, the New York Times best-selling author of The Chicago Cubs: Story of a Curse and Monsters: The 1985 Chicago Bears and the Wild Heart of Football, turns his attention to matters closer to home: his son’s elite peewee hockey team and himself, a former player and a devoted hockey parent.

In Pee Wees: Confessions of a Hockey Parent, Cohen takes us through a season of hard-fought competition in Fairfield County, Connecticut, an affluent suburb of New York City. Part memoir and part exploration of youth sports and the exploding popularity of American hockey, Pee Wees follows the ups and downs of the Ridgefield Bears, the 12-year-old boys and girls on the team, and the parents watching, cheering, conniving, and cursing in the stands. It is a tale about the love of the game, the love of parents for their children, and the triumphs and struggles of both.

Must read for sports parents.

This book more than lived up to my expectations after reading reviews and hearing Rich on a hockey podcast.

It is so well done. You get hooked into the story while having to be introspective about what kind of sport parent you really are.

Engaging and entertaining, I’m a little sad I’m finished.

Great hockey book

Was group one parent When old son started hockey, after eight years and with second| son also playing hockey, I'm in the second group of hockey parents now :). Fortunately, we have not encountered a coach that selfish. Enjoy the games, even sometimes heart broken :)

This is the life of hockey parents

Great story and if you’re a hockey parent you can really relate. If you’re looking at getting your kid into hockey. Give this story a go. It’ll give you a heads up to what you and your kid are in for as they move up through the levels of hockey.
