About this listen

My past taught me to play it safe. To stay far away from handsome men who promised it all. My life was good without them. Stable, secure, predictable.

But one kiss showed me that I’d been playing it safe for far too long. One night, and all I wanted was more of his wildfire. One challenge and my carefully constructed walls tumbled down.

Amid the rubble, I realized there was more to this man than I ever dreamed. When everything fell apart, he showed me what it meant to stay. How to truly live.

But some demons don’t stay buried. The past can come knocking when you least expect. And the life he’s showing me might be shorter than either of us expected....

A do not miss story brought to life by these great narrators!

This is the second book I’ve listened to by Catherine with Joe (heart eyes) and Maxine as narrators. They bring life to a great story with a unique plot.

Epic romance from the queen of romantic suspense

This one gripped my heart hard! I loved Kenna in book one. She was the protective spitfire of a best friend. I was so excited to get a book about her. And it also included that character that cracked me up, Crosby. He is the fun loving guy that loved to push Kenna's buttons. They have a I-hate-you-but-not-really friendship going on. I liked finding out Kenna's story and why she was guarded. She has not had an easy life. A mom who was anything but. An ex who shattered her. And the person who took her under her wing and showed her she was worth something is gone. The pain is too much and she seeks comfort in Crosby's arms. Soon they are trying to be friends with benefits. An evil from the past emerges and Kenna has to defend all she has and all she is. But she's not alone. And she realizes that for the first time. Feelings Crosby and her both didn't plan come to light and it might cause a matter of life and death for them to accept the truth. As usual with Catherine Cowles novel, this book was epic! She is the QUEEN of romantic suspense. One minute I'm swooning and the next I'm holding on for dear life unsure what's going to happen next. Get ready for surprise after surprise. It even more intense and captivating on audio. I was so excited that she used two narrators I loved and they did an amazing job. I really felt the characters in their narration. This is a must read/listen for fans of just a good story. I can't wait for what's next!

A 5+ star book I couldn't wait to listen to!

The thing I loved the most about listening to this book is that the voices of the narrators match so perfectly with the voices of the characters. Joe Arden (who sounds like a dream) is a perfect Crosby and Maxine is a perfect fit for Kenna's sweet personality. Their voices don't detract from the story, but amplify it, which is exactly what i want in an audiobook! As for the storyline...
Every one of Catherine's books has been stellar and Crosby and Kenna's story is no different. The banter between these two is hilarious, however, it comes second to the heartwarming, although sometimes painful, truths about who these two people are and how they fit into each other's lives. For two people who so desperately try to move forward from the pain they have endured, they get dragged down by the past quite a bit. There is nothing better than seeing two people who have struggled, find their happiness. I love Catherine's writing for that exact reason. She makes way for the light in the darkness, and creates something beautiful from the wreckage.

Beautiful story!!

Perfect Wreckage is the small town romance my heart craved. I absolutely loved this beautiful book. Catherine Cowles drew me in from the very beginning. With a strong, resilient heroine, a swoon-worthy hero and their undeniable connection, there is no doubt in my mind, Perfect Wreckage deserves more than 5 stars.

Kenna is my favorite Catherine Cowles heroine. She's strong, kind and dedicated. She had endured so much emotional and physical pain from people who should have cared for her. Leaving her understandably guarded and striving for safety and stability. Crosby is totally swoon-worthy. I love him so much. He's so much more than the laid back lawyer we met in Reckless Memories. Every time he interacted with Zoe, a nine year old girl in the foster system, my heart melted.

I love Kenna and Crosby together so much! They compliment each other so well. Their banter was so entertaining and the chemistry between them radiated off the page. He helps her live a freer less guarded life and she shows him what a real relationship should look like.

The narration was as brilliant as the story Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden do a phenomenal job pulling all the emotions out of me. It was just magic in my ears.

Captivating with all the feels

This book made me feel all the emotions right along with characters and kept me so captivated. I laughed, almost cried, cursed people under my breath and felt like I was right there experiencing everything with Kenna and Crosby.

Kenna and Crosby stole my heart. The banter between them, friendship that bloomed, all the new things we leaned about them just had me loving them and even more.

This is my new favorite book by Catherine Cowles replaced by another book with names that start with K and C, I’m seeing a pattern here and can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

Perfect Wreckage

Perfect Wreckage is a friends to lovers romance in the Wrecked series. Crosby loves the life that he has built since moving from Boston to Anchor. One of his favourite past times is baiting and riling up Kenna. Kenna is going through life one day at a time but when tragedy strikes her demons return to haunt her. Crosby swears to help Kenna through her problem and stand by her side, but when his demons show up it may prove to be too much.

OMG!!!! An emotionally suspenseful rollercoaster ride of a story that I just could not put down. One minute my heart was breaking and the next minute it was so full of love. I even shed a few tears while reading. Crosby and Kenna both have pasts that hurt and haunt them but they helped each other become stronger. The witty banter between the two of them had me smiling. I loved connecting with the other characters and the loyalty they have to one and other is amazing. I can not wait for Caelyn's story. Catherine Cowles is quickly becoming a favourite author of mine and this is a must-read series. A great job is done by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell of giving the story life. *Trigger warning - loss of a baby*

OCD meets Wild Card

This crew is EVERYTHING!!

Catherine is bomb when it comes to small towns/love/a little mystery included. I love that all her books has backgrounds to each character. Because each of their backgrounds brings something to each of their relationships.

Kenna and Crosby are a little like frenimes to lovers. And I love how it evolves. Both of their painful pasts make their relationship. Hard to trust. Not wanting to get close to enough to start having any feelings. But there was always that little spark between them.

These two are my favorite. The wild card and the tight ass. haha. I love it.

Love how Crosby brings out the excitement in Kenna. Because Kenna needs it.

Her past hits close to home while shes in college! Catherine can hit the heart! Loved this book! Make sure you start with Reckless Memories to start the Crew

Steamy and emotional

I loved Kenna and the little bit of Crosby from the first book and I’m glad we got their story next. “Perfect Wreckage” is a steamy, emotional and action packed friends to lovers romance that pulled on my heartstrings.

Kenna was abandoned by her mother at a young age and was raised by Harriett, who became her guardian. After Harriett passes away, Kenna learns that the estate Harriet had is now her. However, her absent family is less than pleased and that includes her ex who shattered her heart at 18. Crosby was Harriet’s lawyer and has always had a flirty banter with Kenna. But Kenna has never wanted anything to do with Crosby but as the two spend time together to fight her ex’s family over the estate, a connection between forms.

Kenna’s independence from the first book spoke to me and I loved her for it. She’s smart, caring, and will do anything for her friends that are her found family. Crosby has a goofy outside personality but underneath is a guy who cares so deeply. I loved how involved he was with the foster care system and wanted to help the kids in the system any way he could. The banter between these two had me laughing more than once and I loved the chemistry that they had. It was a medium-ish burn but once it ignited, it grew hotter. Both had some personal demons from the past they had to battle before they could really be together. Both were scared but they needed to fight the past to have a future. I loved the last few chapters and the ending for them was perfect.

Maxine Mitchell was perfect as Kenna. Maxine’s narration was emotional, caring and gripping. She brought Kenna alive perfectly and I loved listening to her.
