About this listen

Meet Silver Delaney, con artist extraordinare.

Most foster homes are places of love and compassion. Silver had the bad luck to be raised in the other kind. Rather than what could be, she lives by the truth of what is.

Silver has three rules. Number one - People don't always do what they say they will do. Number Two - The world is full of danger. Number Three - Look out for number one.

And that is exactly what she intends to do when she arrives in the Verde Valley of Arizona. Her goals are simple: find her (rich, of course) birth parents, con them out of as much money as she can, and start over in a new life.

Her dream job will be a famous chef in Paris, or a doctor collecting grateful accolades and high salary, or even an award-winning actress. But then she gets accused of murder and scrambles to prove herself innocent.

Is she up to it? Find out how Silver's brand of justice prevails in this fast-paced mystery, at times humorous and romantic, set in the rural Southwest.

Peril in Silver Nightshade is book four in the Pegasus Quincy mystery series.

Great read!

law-enforcement, arizona, murder-investigation, charlatan, greed, grief, verbal-humor, situational-humor

Misdirections, plot twists, awful personal situations, and blatant red herrings are only part of reasons to become absorbed in this mystery. Pegasus is in bad shape financially because of government cutbacks and other things beyond her control, Silver is a con artist with a sense of entitlement, and Rory is a mostly good police detective with a self serving grandstander for a partner. But what about the man named Wolf who charms dogs and does more than his best to help his friends? The first body starts the investigation but it's the next one that really gets things going! The story grabbed my attention and held on til the end! Thanks be for ear buds!
The voice actress is Amy Otteson who is great.

Wonderful series

I have loved this series. Each book has been wonderful. Peg Quincy is an intriguing character and I hope there are more books in this series. Amy Otteson is the narrator for this series and she is great. She has become the true voice of Peg for me. Lakota Grace, I am so happy to have found your mystery series.

4/5 Small Town Mystery

4/5 Stars: Peril in Silver Nightshade by Lakota Grace

Pegasus Quincy Book 4

Genre: Small town police drama

Summary:

Peg Quincy’s got some job troubles, but she hangs on by being the Family Liaison Officer (FLO) and picking up odd jobs for a PI friend and a former lover-it’s-kinda-awkward friend.

Additional Comments:

· The blurb talks solely about Silver Delaney. She takes up about 1/3 of the book. Peg gets a third, and her friend gets a third. I kinda wish Peg had more page time this round, but that’s neither here nor there. To understand the intricacies of the mystery, it’s good to have the other perspectives.

· I want more page time for Peg’s grandfather too.

· I enjoy the fact that not everything is peachy keen in Peg’s life. That makes her more realistic.

· Unfortunately, I also didn’t like Silver Delaney or the fact that she gets away with being a liar, a thief, a con artist, etc. She had a rough upbringing. For some reason, this is the second book I’ve heard recently that uses that card for explaining somebody’s less-than-admirable behavior.

· Amy Otteson’s performances get better with each book. She’s settled into the character nicely. She doesn’t have great range of voices b/t books, but within each book, you’ll never have a problem telling who’s who.

Conclusion:

I’m sure poor Peg will have many more adventures. If you’re looking for small town police procedurals, you can’t go wrong with Pegasus Quincy. The stories can be read out of order, but they’re probably better in order.

Great book and series!

If you’ve read earlier books in the series then you know that Peg is a hot mess...adorable, loyal, well meaning and persistent...but a hot mess nevertheless! In this book, Peg is finally getting indoor plumbing in her rented cabin...o happy day...lol. That’s not the story, just a sub plot in Peg’s life. Peg is constantly battling sexism in the small town police force but she handles it with more grace than I probably could! When a local man’s death in the State Park is ruled a suicide, Peg disagrees and starts her own investigation. For someone whose personal life is so chaotic, Peg is a surprisingly methodical detective and following her journey to discover the truth is always a pleasure. Great HEA. Looking forward to the next book!

The characters are great!

This is a very good, suspenseful mystery, but it's the great characters that really make this story special.

Amy Otteson has become the voice of Pegasus Quincy, and she does make an effort to give distinctive voices to other characters, but her repertoire of voices is rather limited. Other than that, her performance is quite satisfactory.

This Author did a Great job!

This is book 4, but the 1st book by this author I have ever listened/Read. I Highly recommend this book and I myself will be looking into following other books by this author. I really liked the main character and the situations she gets into as well as her being knock by some of the chauvinistic men in the police department were very realistic.

GOOD PLOT

PERIL IN SILVER NIGHTSHADE. by Lakota Grace
...narration by Amy Otteson
With budget cuts, she takes on a rent a cop security job at the Red Rock Park, to help pay bills..A lot of tourist, a snake, then a dead body. Calling in to get help, Grady comes, and said he was a volunteer at the park, pulling weeds.Plants were near, and said they were silver nightshade, and poisonous. Daughter given up at birth, like a chameleon, to get money, for a detective. She still didn’t get what she wanted.Divorces that didn’t happen, abuse, and murder. Like her books, this story good addition to series

Peg to the rescue

PERIL IN SILVER NIGHTSHADE
Lakota Lynn Grace

Pegasus Quincy is back in book 4 of this series. The new con person in town is Silver Delaney. When these two meet and all the excitement begins. There are so many twists and turns that take the listener on a journey they are likely to never forget. This kept me quite entertained from start to finish.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Amy Otteson is the voice of Pegasus Quincy.
