Publisher's summary
You can lock your door, but can you lock your heart?
Finding the courage to end his relationship with his manipulative and vicious boyfriend, Jamie Wheeler turns to his close friend Ed Corrigan to help him get his life back on track.
Jamie and Ed have been inseparable for years, and all it would take is a small step to cross the divide from friends to lovers.
It would be the biggest mistake they could make.
Jamie seeks the security of a settled long-term relationship, but Ed vows never to put his heart on the line again after a devastating betrayal. Anything beyond friendship is a risk, and could break them forever.
As Jamie’s vindictive ex causes trouble from the side-lines, a face from the past makes an unwelcome return. Jamie’s life isn’t getting back on track, it’s coming off the rails, as a series of seemingly random events lead to only one of two conclusions: Either somebody’s playing a dark and sinister game, or Jamie’s losing his mind.
Tensions rise and danger approaches, drawing Jamie and Ed closer than ever. But time is running out as they race to discover not only what is happening, and why, but also what they truly mean to each other.
The third book in the Deviant Hearts series, Perilous Hearts is a slow burn friends to lovers romance intertwined with dark psychological suspense. Can be enjoyed as a stand-alone work.

Story
Ava only left her daughter in the pushchair for five minutes. The buckle was fastened, and she was sure it was safe. But when she came downstairs, the door was open and Abi was gone - she walked down the road, past the Lovegoods' house, and was never seen again. A year later, the Lovegoods throw a housewarming party, showing off the results of their renovation. Ava doesn’t want to go. She can’t bear to look down that end of the road, to see the place where Abi vanished, and she doesn’t want to spend time with people who don’t share her grief.

When fanfic writer Aaron Page landed a temp job with the creator of hit TV show, Leeches, it was only meant to last a week. Three years later, Aaron’s still there. It could be because he loves the creative challenge. It could be because he’s a huge Leeches fanboy. It’s definitely not because of Lewis Hunter, his extremely demanding, staggeringly rude...and breathtakingly gorgeous boss.

friends to lovers
Friends that each have their own past heartaches try to support each other through troubled times. Mind games, jealousy, psycho moves make Jamie and Ed cling to each other for safety. Amidst danger, I liked seeing the truth of their relationship grow. This got so dark, I was on the edge of my seat with my heart in my throat! Twists and depravity. but love survives. Check it out. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job.

Very intriguing.
This story was completely intriguing to me: both the friends to lovers part and the creepy stalker aspect of it. I think the author has exceeded my expectations for this third book in the series!
Ed and Jamie have been best friends for almost a decade, but despite everything (their obvious mutual attractions, everybody thinking they’re already a couple, every other relationship not working…) the time is never right for them to be together. Things change just when Jamie’s life seems to start to be torn to shreds. Strange and disturbing things happen and Ed is Jamie’s rock in the storm.
A beautiful, intriguing, attention-grabbing book, narrated masterfully by the super talented Dan Calley!

Fantastic Story in the Deviant Hearts Series
Yet another great book in the Deviant Hearts Series. This is the 3rd and final book in the series that can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend the entire series.
Perilous Hearts is a friends to lovers, slow burn story with psychological suspense and mystery. It was very satisfying to see Jamie and Ed finally on the same page where their relationship was concerned. I thoroughly enjoyed the psychological aspects of the book. The twists and turns of the story kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t stop listening.
As always, a fantastic narration by Dan Calley and an outstanding book by AE Ryecart.

A Wonderful Psychological Thriller
The third and last book in the Deviant Hearts series, Perilous Hearts dives into the realm of psychological suspense and mystery with a heart stopping, thrilling climax. Like the other two books in the series, this book can easily be read as a standalone, but familiar characters from book one and two make their appearances.
Jamie always falls for the wrong guy. First he falls for his best friend Ed during college, but Ed isn’t interested in relationships. Then he dates Tom, a level ten clinger, before he finally ends up with Callum, the charming turned abusive boyfriend. When that relationship ends, Jamie finds himself single for the first time in a while. It isn’t being single, especially with Callum being so vindictive, but Jamie has his best friend Ed to lean on for support. Everything is finally going right in Jamie’s life, until strange things start happening. Jamie doesn’t know if he’s going crazy from stress, or if someone is out to get him. The plot slowly builds, intensifying the feeling of living within a fractured reality, as well as ramping up the sexual tension between Jamie and Ed, until the thrilling conclusion that had me on the edge of my seat.
This was a fun, psychological thriller, with a strong slow burn romance. The relationship and connection Jamie and Ed with each other was intense, and watching them finally get their heads out of the sand and actually acknowledge the love and lust they had for each other had me cheering.
Dan Calley narrated the audiobook version of this novel and did a fantastic job. Dan’s voice is delicious and gorgeous, plus he has a gift for narrating different characters and making them sound distinct. I love the different types of British accents he did, and as an American listener, I had no trouble at all understanding the accents. He’s quickly becoming one of my favorite new narrators.

Excellent story!
What an excellent story! Suspenseful, creepy, with tension mounting by little but constant increments, I was hooked from the beginning.
And yes, I knew that something was very wrong since the first creeky sound, but I also understood why Jamie was trying so hard to normalize all that was happening. And I also understood why he was having such a hard time telling off to his less than savoury ex. We are all brain-wired into politeness, and if someone isn't being overly rude, even if they are making us uncomfortable, we don't feel that we are entitled to make a scene.
And I really liked how the romance developed, slowly but with a sense of inevitability; they both knew that their time had come. And yes, Ed seems a little bit overprotective by moments, but I believe that it is the product of the circumstances more than a personal trait, so that's okay for me:P
Dan Calley did a great job with the narration.
