"Filipino Culture, Explained At It's Finest"

I loved it. Very well told by the narrator from start to finish. Made me feel like I was actually in the Philippines, myself.

Good overall Introduction to Culture With a Heavy Focus on Business Life In Manila

I thought it gave an effective general understanding of the Filipino culture, but I wish it wasn’t so Manila centric or even middle - upper class focused. I’m heading to Cebu (2nd largest metropolitan area), and may likely be interacting with many economically lower class and poor communities. It is clear they had in mind British Commonwealth businessmen and women heading to Manila in mind for this work.

The reader was very articulate and pleasing to listen to. He did occasionally mispronounce some island names, but he did get close.

Great mix of history and culture

I listen to this book in preparation for a 30-day Global Water Initiative visit to help build sustainable water sources for smaller island villages. I found the books first part covering the of history of the Philippines to be very enlightening. The second part of the book really goes into a better understanding of cultural introduction that is highly helpful for a westerner to include mentioning things to be on the wary of as only drink sealed bottle water.
