About this listen

After surviving a brutal childhood, it's hard work that has brought Melanie Brennan the good things in life: college and being accepted into a prestigious graduate school. Even so, she clings to the belief that it will be magic that will bring her true love. But it's not magic that pulls her into a life or death struggle alongside her too-handsome professor, Andrew Richards, to find evidence to clear him of charges that he blew up his lab to cover fraud. As they fly to San Francisco and struggle to find their way to the other side of a nightmare of violence, it's belief in her own courage and strength that leads her to love.

Great romance

This was a very interesting story with characters that were real , characters you could identify with. I actually was emotional at times and I have read so many books that it is a rare occurrence for a character to get to me but Melanie did. This is a sweet story with no heat between the characters, but a nice kinda old-fashioned love story. The plot moved along nicely and kept my interest.

Soft and sweet – above average romance

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend this book to a friend if it were on sale. The MSRP is quite high.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Ilyana Kadushin?

Yes, but I would have to speed it up to 1.25 or 1.5 X to keep the story moving along. Kadushin has a very soft indistinct voice.
3.5 stars

Any additional comments?

Intimate scenes are inappropriate for younger audiences

Plot gets better, but the characters are annoying.

After randomly picking a book from my extensive list of books I have bought when they were on sale, this is what came up. At first I thought it was only a romance in which I was getting bored and debated giving up on the story. I couldn't remember what the synopsis was supposed to even be about. I also was not a fan of the heroine, she was scared of her own shadow and always sitting around fantasizing. I am not a fan of dreams or fantasies played out in books, like they were actually happening, this annoys me in stories and this story has Melanie's fantasies all the time. Then she refers to God as a "she" and the way it was portrayed just had me rolling my eyes. At this point I again almost gave up on the story but I figured I give the book 2 hours. After the initial boringness the book gets better although I barely like the main characters. Also if you looking for a clean action/romance there is no sex in this book. I recommend only getting this on sale and not spending a credit on it. Narrator's voice was almost too soft but she does okay.

An average listen..Maybe not worth a credit though

I purchased this on sale and am glad I didn't spend a credit on it. Whle I might not return it, I wasn't blown away.

I found the protagonist a bit fluffy and the probable bad guy sleazy.

Can't highly recommend..there are many much better novels out there.

Average.

somewhere between liked it and eh

I'm too familiar with university/academic life to find many of the events in this book highly unlikely. The female lead, as usual, is annoying. The story has many typical formulas as well. In spite of all the above, it was cute.
