About this listen

One step forward, two steps back.

Our enemies are out in the open now - we have them in our sights. Unfortunately, that means we’re more exposed than ever, too.

We found the Qilin, but we’ve lost my vampire. My guys tell me he’ll be fine, but will we?

Just when I think I have Haret figured out, I find a new piece to the puzzle. There are cities in the sky, magical creatures losing magic, and goddesses cracking under the pressure.

We might even have to make a bargain with an old devil, just to survive.

There’s a war coming, and everyone is choosing sides between the fae and the mages. I say it’s time a third party enters this circus ring.

I’m Carlyle Licorne, and balancing the darkness starts with me.

Duet narration + the next battle for Carlisle!

Duet narration with Lucas Webley and Vanessa Moyen was so incredible! Duet narration is the best listening experience by far! Lucas sounded like at least 7 different narrators, and then add in Vanessa’s high energy performance and I was just blown away!

After their trip to the sea, and some success with their Qilin hunt, you’d think things are looking up for Carlisle and the guys. But she does need all her guys… so when one is lost temporarily she can’t help but worry. But she has lots of other things to keep her busy and equally worried.

The harem has 6 guys and this book def picks up the spice! If you are wanting a really complex fantasy and epic adventure this may not be the one for you. This series definitely has plot and clearly defined unique characters, but it’s fun and spicy. I think it is definitely enhanced by the audio!

So much in one book!

There is so much to unwrap in book 6 of this epic RH PNR series but I won't give much away because some things you need to listen/read for yourself haha. I really enjoyed this story and went right into book 7 because I needed to get over that cliffhanger (thank goodness this series is complete or I would have chucked my phone haha).

In terms of the story, we get to meet more of the factions in this world, some good some evil. I absolutely was devastated when Jai sacrificed himself in the last book. I mean I get why he did it, but Carlyle was crushed and wasn't the same without her stoic vampire. I loved Jai getting to discover the dragons and help Carlyle when she comes to rescue him. Loved meeting Jack's brother and seeing what Carlyle could do as her powers keep going to give the dragons something they haven't had in a long time. Loved Jai finally getting his time and the aims ceremony made my heart happy, finally seeing them get their brief happy moment and solidifying the bond was magical. We also got to see the Fae lands and the evil queen who happens to be Carlyle's MIL pretty much haha. I liked the emotion that Carlyle and the group exuded in the scenes in that part of the world. So much love from the group to help Carlyle and Killian, strength from Carlyle to one up the queen and not let her intimidate and belittle Killian in front of everyone. So much power and she uses it to booster her mate and help her heal and not back down from the evil queen. Great imagery in this book with the new worlds, the different creatures, the different personalities. Fab job by this author!

I thought this one shifted from more of a romance focused story to a plot based story which I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated! We have been keeping with this series as readers yes for the relationships and sexy times haha but this story is so detailed and done well that we want to eat all the story (since we only have one book left after this). Great job again by this author, I went to got the next ones after book 7 because I know I am going to love more from this world, the I can guaranteed.

In terms of the narration, still the same feedback. I think this one had less quality issues but not as good as some of the others I have listnened to. There was a lot of emotions in this one for both narrators and they stepped up to the challenge, especially with Lucas portraying Jai with his ice fortress but he had to break those walls down and let Carlyle in and it was beautiful to listen to/imagine in my head ❤️
