It is the winter of 1880, and the future looks promising for Annie and Nate Dawson. Nate's law practice is taking off. Annie has made the transition from pretend clairvoyant to a successful financial consultant. And they are looking forward to spending their first Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays together.
For Robert Livingston, the owner of San Francisco's newest grand emporium, the holidays don't look so promising. Not if he can't figure out how to stop whoever is stealing from his department store, the Silver Strike Bazaar.
However, when he hires the Dawsons to investigate, they discover that behind the doors of his Palace of Plenty, nothing is quite what it seems. Pilfered Promises, a sweet cozy historical mystery, is the fifth novel in the Victorian San Francisco Mystery series featuring Annie and Nate Dawson and their friends and family in the O'Farrell Street boarding house.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would absolutely recommend this audiobook to a friend. Charming story, clean, and the narrator did a flawless performance with different voices for each character. I was drawn into this wonderful mystery and appreciated the twists and turns and thoughtful storyline and wealth of information. What was one of the most memorable moments of Pilfered Promises: A Victorian San Francisco Mystery?
When the mother-in-law was caught shoplifting. What about Alexandra Haag’s performance did you like?
Smooth, soothing voice that had perfect diction and the ability to transform into the different characters. She is probably the best narrator I have ever listened too--and most of them are quite excellent.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was intrigued, curious (until satisfied), and joyful.Any additional comments?

Any additional comments?
I was disappointed when Mrs Locke's SF Victorian Mystery appeared to stop with 'Deadly Proof.' The wait was worth it though because this book is the best one of the series. I found myself unable to stop listening, but I continued listening until I was finished. I was particularly intrigued by the weaving the lives of the 'Boarding House' characters throughout the story line. I look forward to a 'Book 6', but I will be patient. Good things come to him who waits!!!!Best Yet
