A nice little pirate history book. Very bite sized

Would you listen to Pirate Trials again? Why?

I don't think I'll listen to this one again, but I very well might. It's so short and bite sized that given my mood - I might pop it on for a short walk with the dogs someday.

Any additional comments?

An easy, little, bite-sized pirate history book. Don't go into this one expecting great depth or character development because that just not going to happen with a 92 page/2 hour long book. What this book does do is give you a brief introduction to a dozen or so actual pirates that lived, died, and were consummate pirates during the great age of swashbuckling pirates.

There are two reasons to grab this book beyond the fact that Chekijan does another splendid narration.

1. Pick this one up if you know next to nothing about pirates. This is a great primer for further studies. You'll pick up brief synopsis of the major pirate players, and probably get a good idea of who you'd like to learn more about in a weightier book.

2. I bet you could get away with writing a passable middle/highschool book report with just this book.

Aye Matey-Avast Ye

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I only wish it had been longer. Pirates were some of the original bad guys. They scoured the Caribbean and West Indies looking for booty. But they were ruthless murderers.

From Captain Avery to Captain Spriggs, to Captains Lowther and Low, even to Captain Teach (aka) Blackbeard, this was a really neat, compact timeline of some of their adventures. Pirates weren't nice people. They still exist to this day but not in the manner in which we visualize and fantasize them to be such as Captain Jack Sparrow. He's the exception.

This book talks briefly about the Jolly Roger which is the pirates flag everyone is familiar with. This book mentions just about all the Sea Dogs which we've come to idolize. It makes me want to hear more about them. I'm fairly certain that I'll be speaking pirate lingo for a few days now.

Jack Chekijian did a super job narrating this book. His pirate talk was great during the pirate trials. He always speaks clearly and has come to be one of my favorite narrators. This was a gem.
