This was the hardest book to get through since I subscribed to this app.
I'm not sure why the narrator would choose a DIALOG style story, then use pretty much the same voice the entire trip through this book. It's literally like listening to someone have a conversation with themselves.
I wish I would have listened to more of the sample. But since this was the top rated book for what it was, I figured how could this many people like this book and it be a complete bore.
Viewers beware... listen to the sample... it's the same voice the entire way through.

Plato's works helped to found oir way of thinking and reasoning about politics, religion, and science. These works aren't about absolute truth, bit rather about how to think and question, and in this they do a superb job. You leave each chapter thinking for yourself what is right and wrong about each line of question, and you broaden your logic and worldview. That being said, some arguments are long and involved, and are easier to follow in writing than in listening. Mr. Kollins does a good job narrating, though it may have helped a little if he had used different voices for the different characters. But that is a small matter overall, and i enjoyed his performance.

Classic philosophy, well performed

This is pretty much exactly what you would expect from the title ... somebody narratiing 4 of Plato's dialogs that form part of the foundation of the modern western world with regard to government and ethics. If you are interesting any learning about any of these, this is a solid resource.

1-13 The Republic
The Introduction
Books I–V: from the attempt to define justice, the description of an ideal community (a "utopia") and the education of its Guardians;
Books VI–VII: the nature of philosophers, the ideal rulers of such a community;
Books VIII–X: the pros and cons of various practical forms of government.

14-17 The Apology [of Socrates]
The Introduction
The Apology

18-21 Crito
The Introduction
Crito

22-26 Symposium

It's hard to listen to the robot . ugh! It makes my ears hurt. I can't tolerate it and I can't focus on the story.

I think the content is well, however the reading is the main problem. Mr.Kevin Kollins’s voice appears to be muffled, it’s quite hard for me to take in. And he appears to be reading with a consistent flat tone which is hard to capture my interest. I wish the voice could be clear and the reader could be reading it in a less flat tone fashion.
