About this listen

The Complete Strategy Collection, a compilation of ancient and historical philosophies, will increase your knowledge of strategy, conflict, and adversity throughout the ages, giving you valuable insight into the past while opening a window to the future. Although each of the works can be considered a manual or diagram for war or engaging in physical combat, the life skills embodied in each can be adapted to everyday life in modern society.

  • In story one, The Art of War, Sun Tzu defines strategies to overcome your opponent.
  • Story two, The Prince, offers practical solutions to some of life’s most common problems based on moral and ethical values.
  • The Book of Five Rings (story three) applies strategies used in physical encounters to business, relationships, and de-escalation of conflicts.
  • The ideologies of war and military strategy in Story Four, On War, clearly depict how motivations influence outcomes.
  • Arthashastra, the final story, brings the philosophical strategies to the forefront and lays the foundation for current policies, systems, and attitudes.

As you listen on, you will be enthralled by the complexity of strategies and how useful these strategies are to modern culture, government, and military strategy. You will gain the knowledge to guide you in your everyday activities to help you beat out your opponents, position yourself for success, avoid conflict, and overcome adversity. You will see how these classic writings have been used throughout history by warriors, kings, diplomats, and businessmen to give them opportunities otherwise deemed impossible.

Listen on, and learn how you, too, can take advantage of the strategies of war.

Greatest collection ever in terms of practical wisdom.

Strategic autism at is sharpest. Best of the blessed thus far, as far as this category is concerned. I don’t recommend Power vs Force, nor Strategy of Conflict by Tomasito Chilling. These titles aside, go read everything Curtis Jackson and Robert Greene.

All-in-one audiobook of stategic classics

This audiobook includes five of the most iconic classic literary works of some of the greats like Sun Tzu and Miyamoto Musashi. If you've ever wanted to have them all conveniently in one audiobook, this is the one for you. As for the narrators, Michael Bower delivers the manuscript with a strong masculine voice—something you would expect from a collection about strategy. Tom Chandler on the other hand, delivers the manuscripts like a librarian or historian. Overall a good collection to have if you are a deep thinker or an intellectual. I like listening to these pieces in small bites and use them to inspire my writing!

A nice collection on war

This is a nice collection for gaining a deeper understanding of war and the various strategies implemented. I’ve listened to a couple of the books previously, such as The Art of War, and the narration was overall decent. However, considering this over 50 hours in length, it was difficult at times to maintain my focus throughout.

Learn how to CONQUER from the masters

The Art of War is ancient and is one of the most influential books of all time. It has applications in sports and in business as well.
The other books were much less familiar to me but I was drawn to these by the title. It really is a complete strategy collection.
Some of these ancient texts unabashedly describe ruthless ways to achieve your goals.
Whether you are a student of these subjects, or are an ambitious warrior at heart, this collection will educate you.
Not to mention this is one of the best bargains on Audible.

A nice surprise!

What a wealth of information! I love that it is all found in one place. Several books are represented, so it’s to be expected that not everything will resonate with the reader. My favorites were The Art of War, The Prince, and On War. I learned a lot that I can apply to my own life. As a woman of faith, I see many things that actually go against the spiritual war that I fight every day. But there were plenty of things to take to heart as well, especially the importance of rest and that sometimes it’s better to rest than take action. My assessment is if you feel you need to follow most of the actions in this book, then you need to reassess your goals. Not everyone is an enemy or a subject to submit to your will. St Francis of Assisi is just one example of when an establishment became too greedy, and someone had the guts to stand up and say, “This isn’t right!” Bottom line, I learned a lot about what not to do through these books, but I also picked up some good wisdom.

For those of you wanting more, I offer my notes below that I took while listening. They will probably make more sense after you have listened to the book:

Some interesting tidbits from the Prince: He who is the cause of another’s greatness is himself undone. Relying wholly on the lion is not good. There are times when it is best for the prince not to keep his word. The section regarding the lion and the fox was interesting. Conclusion: The Prince should keep his mind ready to shift. Ought not to quit good courses if he can help it, but should know how to follow evil courses if he must. 1. Mercy, 2. Good, 3. faith, 4. integrity, 5. humanity and religion. Results determine success. Laws and force. If first is ineffectual, he must resort to force. Fox to discern foils and a lion to drive off wolves. Disarming instills distrust and hatred. Weaker factions will always stand with the leader. Promoting hatred can sometimes help a prince to rise up. I can see where our recent country leaders have put many of these things into practice, not always for the best.

The Book of Five Rings was thoroughly confusing to me. Sayings such as: knowing things that exist, you can know things that do not exist. Taking void as the way, you will see the way as void…Spirit is nothingness.

Here are my notes On War:
Book One:
War is a dual on an extensive scale. Act of violence to compel the enemy to fulfill our will (disarming him). Country, government, will. Business of war. Force destroyed, enemy subdued.
Book 2
On the Theory of War
The art of making use of a given means of fighting.
Branches . . .
Acts called combats form units
Tactics and strategies
Use of majority
Theory is about the use of tactics: use of military forces in combat
Use of combats for the objects of the war
Book 3 Of strategy in general (This was my favorite!)
Employment of the battle to give an aim to the war
Forms the plan of the war and links together the series of acts that lead to the end.
*Strategy must go with the army to the field to reassess. One can never take their hand from the battle for a moment.
Organize according to object and means, not too little or too much, not so much by new modes of action but in successful final result of the whole. Noiseless harmony of the whole action and only makes itself known in final result. Strategy, simple but not easy.

Elements connected. No soulless analysis. Moral, physical, mathematical, geographical and statistical.

Virtue
Obedience, order, rule, method
Importance of good leader

gold mine

This is truly a gold mine of strategies. Many are famous and very classic strategies. I'd admiit that some may seem a bit old, but those are ancient histories. Even those old strategies and stories would still tell quite a bit about new perspectives. It shows how they diagnose the situation, and find solution. there is the thought process that still applicable no matter place and time. Also know that this is a 50 hours audiobook. Finishing these whole many stories gonna take you lots and lots of time. Enjoy it!
