Things have gotten downright smoldering in Cotton Creek. The oil boom has the town bursting at the seams, and has Cody and Hannah run ragged with the bar being packed every night. Leave it to their mama to come up with a solution.
Stella talks to her sister, who, in turn, manipulates her son, Cade to go to Cotton Creek and help his cousins out. After all, he has nothing really on his plate. He just sold a casino in Atlantic City and has no idea what he wants to do next.
Cade isn't keen on the idea, but his mother traps him with the old "family helps family" thing so to Cotton Creek he goes. What were the odds that a month after he arrives, Roxie Ellis' 1957 T-bird would break down just outside of Cotton Creek and she'd be needing a job to make enough to effect repairs?
Gambler's luck? Maybe. Whatever the case, sparks fly at first glance and before you can call red on a roulette wheel, Cade and Roxie are neck deep in what is surely the most erotic bet of their lives.
The problem is, the bet becomes a whole lot more serious than either of them plan and soon Cade is Playing for Keeps.

This book has a variety of things, from the old biddy town gossips, to small misunderstanding, family support, and relationship woes and triumphs, throw in a little gambling both on love, money, and some sexy times and you have one hell of an entertaining story. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. The writing is so good it draws you in to the characters and their world and you just want more. The narrator is so good at bringing these characters and their story to life that it keeps you wanting more. The story development just keeps getting better and better that I am totally hooked and can't wait for the last book to be released to audio. This story can be read as a standalone with the back stories mentioned enough that you don't feel lost, but if you do start with this book I highly recommend that you go back and read/listen to the rest because they are so good. I highly recommend this book and series. This Series Just Keeps Getting Better & Better!

Have you listened to any of J. Scott Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I must say that I only discovered J.S Bennett via this series, and he has made me fall in love with every book. Every book in this series just gets better, J.S does such an amazing job narrating these books that I must finished them in one sitting. As always beautifully written by Ciana Stone, and I look forward to the next release on audio.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Would you consider the audio edition of Playing for Keeps to be better than the print version?
Yes, Scott Bennett enhanced this book. What was one of the most memorable moments of Playing for Keeps?
So funny when Roxy tells Cade (spoiler alert!). that she is married and the nosy landlady and town gossip is listening in and mistakes what she says. Thinks she heard her say she is a murderer! What does J. Scott Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Scott Bennett puts life to the characters, also he is very good with the mood of the story. If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Oil and heat are found in Texas.Any additional comments?
The only disappointment I had, was in not having read the previous books in the series first. I actually had to listen to the book twice to figure out who all the characters were and I had to take notes there were so many. The author obviously started out with this small town in the first book of the series and has been adding folks in each following book.Read the series in order and enjoy the town of Cotton Creek Texas.
I received this audio book for free from the author or narrator in exchange of an honest review.
I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. This is the first book from this series I've listened to and it works well as a stand-alone. There were a few references from other books but they weren't crucial. The narration was done well but I thought Cade's voice was a bit too "old."
It's a country sweet romance that has every character in some stage of relationship. Must be something in the water!
Gets a solid Thumb Up... the other thumb is wavering, wanting more grit.
