Publisher's summary

For Fans of the Liz Talbot Mystery Series…

Postcards From Stella Maris is a collection of five short stories for fans of the series who might be interested, for example, in Colleen's backstory.

I wrote the short story “Common Knowledge” for myself years ago, as a way to explore what happened to Colleen. As you might imagine, it's not as light as the series in general. This story has never been published anywhere before.

“Eviction” is the story of how Liz first met Rhett, her golden retriever, back when she was married to Scott the Scoundrel. This story is also not lighthearted, and it likewise has never been published before.

“Hogwash” originally appeared in Spinetingler Magazine. This is a fun little case which introduces the character of Zeke Lyerly, who appears in Lowcountry Bonfire.

“Highlights and Hot Lead” originally appeared in The Petigru Review. This is a Stella Maris slice of life story featuring Shannelle Johnson, a local judge's wife, and it takes place entirely at Phoebe's Day Spa.

“Everything is Relative” is a peek inside a Talbot family Thanksgiving. A few of Mamma's recipes are included at the end.

If by chance you’ve stumbled on this collection of stories, but you’ve never explored a Liz Talbot mystery, I would encourage you to start with Lowcountry Boil (A Liz Talbot Mystery, Book 1) and come back to these stories later.

I so hope you enjoy these glimpses into Liz Talbot’s formative years, her unfortunate first marriage, and her life between major cases.

Warmly,

Susan M. Boyer

Stories were great, narrator lacking

loved the stories but it was difficult to listen to. I kept wanting to correct the narrator everytime she said Stella Maris. I get it - two different narrators. But shouldn't they pronounce the Island's name the same?

Beautiful snapshots of Stella Maris

This is the perfect afternoon listen for fans of Susan Boyer's Lowcountry series, those getting ready to try the series or anyone who loves tales of southern small towns. It was great to finally experience Colleen's lifetime friendship with Liz. And thank you for sharing Mama's favorite recipes! Can't wait to listen to your next one!

Like listening to a friend share her stories...

If you are a fan of Susan M. Boyer's Liz Talbot mystery series, you will really enjoy Postcards from Stella Maris! It was like sitting down with a friend and listening to her share her stories. Some moments were thoughtful, while others had me laughing out loud! This little peek into a few of the characters' backstories and what life is like on Stella Maris peels back yet another layer of this well-crafted story I've come to love.

The narrator's accent was either a result of incredible voice acting or authentic, and she really brought the stories to life. Overall, it was a pleasure to listen and I will certainly be trying some of Mamma's recipes!

Southern Families

I think she has described each and every Carolina (North & South) family to a tee. We all have a bit of crazy in our families. I love that she includes recipes at the end of her books. My mama makes “regular” stuffing & “oyster” stuffing. 😊

A chapter of recipes????

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the books until now, but these are not fully-developed short stories. If anything, they are backstory vignettes and characters sketches.
