Publisher's summary

Preacher takes on the last of the Aztecs in his biggest, bloodiest showdown yet.

There are a million ways to die in the Rockies - and a million predators, natural or otherwise. But even a seasoned mountain dweller like Preacher is shocked by the latest horror lurking in the hills. Trappers are being hunted down like animals. Captured. Murdered. Mutilated. Their hearts carved out of their chests. Some of the victims were Preacher's friends. Now two others - Audie and Nighthawk - have gone missing. Preacher is determined to track them down before they end up on the chopping block. But nothing can prepare him for what's waiting at the end of the trail.

A secret cult as old as the Aztecs. A warrior priest with a lust for blood. And an epic battle that begins and ends - with the ultimate sacrifice.

Preacher

The stories of preacher’s adventures draw you in and puts you in the story . William Johnstone had such a creative mind for stories and his son JA Johnston will do well to continue the exciting stories

Enjoyed this one as it was out of the normal Western

I like the history of this book, how it pulled in the different cultures and added a mystery not normally found in westerns. The characters were rich and enjoyable. Lots of twist in plot turns keeping you off-balance. Not predictable in anyway.

Decent but repetitive

The book was far too long. It was extremely repetitive but was still a good listen. I MUCH prefer J Rodney Turner as a narrator for Preacher.

narrator is awful

the story is good. what you would expect from a preacher story. the narrator uses stupid voices makes preacher sound like an old prospector from a b western

An interesting supposal of rediscovering Aztecs

As in the Mountain Caesar, this is a "supposal," as C. S. Lewis called his Narnia tales, of what could be possible about a discovery of the 16th century Aztecs by 19th century Mountain men. The horrors of human sacrifice and oppressive monarchy are well described. This story included suspense amid descriptions of terror. I am glad to have read it

The narrator was very good. Smooth and easy to follow. Listen and you can believe.

Preacher has become a favorite

I’m becoming a huge fan of Preacher! I love the way the story is so complex but easy to follow. The action is so real it puts you right on the scene with the characters. Thank you for another great read!
