She thought she was prepared for the end of the world...until it actually came.

Alex Duncan is a mother, a sister - and the daughter of a doomsday prepper. She always thought her father was insane, raving about an apocalypse she never believed in, but when a plague hits the United States and the dead no longer stay dead, Alex discovers heeding her deceased father’s advice is what will keep her family alive. Before he died, Alex’s father created a compound in Montana just in case situations like this arose.

Hell has arrived on Earth.

The dead walk, hungry for human flesh. Living in a highly populated city like Las Vegas makes the reality of the plague imminent to Alex. With little time to spare, Alex must make split-second decisions to prevent her family from being devoured. Facing the end, Alex has three goals: Escape Las Vegas. Get to the compound. Survive.

As the outside world crumbles and grows darker, Alex faces adversity from not just the infected, but the uninfected as well. Government assistance is nowhere in sight, and rumors fly that the nation’s only solution to the growing plague is execution.

Not everyone will outlast the plague. Doomsday is here. Will Alex be up to the challenge, or fall, and rise again as one of the undead?

Bonus! Includes Alone, a Sundown series novella.

I really like this book. The storyline is very realistic, besides the zombie part. LOL. Love the characters and think Alex and I could be really good friends!

Great book!

Like that the book was not over detailed about the surroundings or getting all crazy with the bery dark side of what humans do during a crisis

Awesome

I fell in love with Alex and her family starting with this book. Cannot recommend this series enough!

This is my favorite prepper series

I got this on a whim because I had a long road trip I was already started on when my planned book ended. so I just clicked what showed as "you may like". yes, it's a zombie apocalypse. yes, there are good and bad humans. but the story is engaging and the characters are both easy to love and easy to dislike. I enjoyed it and will get the next in the series.

spontaneous purchase that I ate up

It’ss everything you want in a zombie book. There are tons of worse books. The author has some quirks but the book is exactly what you’re signing up for content-wise. Given how crappy a lot of zombie books are, it’s refreshing to get something expected.

It’s zombies

I like the story, but wish I could have edited it for the writer. “The RV” is said way too many times. I kept getting hung up on that because it was said so often. Other then that the story is good! I’ll follow the series through.

Love me an apocalypse story

Action packed this story is about Alex and her two small children Billy and Henry. Can you imagine the Zombie apocalypse starting and you have two littles? Thankfully Alex's father trained her in his prepper ways. Looking forward to book 2

Enjoyed this book

it was a very short story and felt like this should be a box set. good overall but never really felt like the story got rolling.

when's the story start.

The idea is great. The delivery is a little off. The flow suffers from some errors I've found common with a lot of inexperienced and ideological authors. The lesser issue is mass info dumps and to frequent flashbacks. In other words "stop telling me and just show me."
One major issue is over the top and fake bad guys. Who the heck would call a 30 year old woman a "little girl" and declare they were going to "violate" her. It was supposed to be a serious and dark moment but came out as like a 1950s comedy cartoon villan scene. I half expected them to tie her to the train tracks. It's like the author gets all their bad guy tropes from old cartoons, terrible anime, and their Feminism 101 class. Another major issue is the typical B movie trope of only one bad guy or monster attacks at a time. Shuffling zombies I can see her getting at one at a time... maybe. But the thugs in the truck? Come on. None of them happened to have a gun. The guy that grabbed her from behind and disarmed her (none of the guys standing there without guns goes to grab her dropped shotgun) ends up getting his ass handed to him and not one of his buddies stepped in to tackle her to the ground? Not likely.
A better way to move the story along would have been East taking the chance to save his new mom with the AR15 in the cabinet that has yet to make an appearance since she found the dang thing. East and Alex could have had a serious character growth moment at that point. East would have been able to be more confident after what he saw as his "previous failures" and Alex would have truly realized she was not alone anymore. The whole thing was just to much of an independent woman girl power fantasy moment and just plain story breaking.

Not bad, could be better
