About this listen

Lauren Russell often wondered why her father had been so adamant about teaching her skills that most other fathers wouldn't even consider teaching their daughters. Ever since she was little, she had been taught how to live and survive outdoors, and how to use firearms to protect herself and those around her. Some of the training had been a bit extreme. Or had it been?

Many of her questions were answered the day the world as she knew it ended. Now, the skills she had been taught serve an essential purpose. They keep her and those she cares about alive.

Even in the sparsely-populated mountains of West Virginia, where she and her family have been forced to relocate for their safety after the collapse, peril lurks around every corner. Normal life has taken on a whole new meaning for Lauren, her family, and the community they have become a part of. In this different world, the new status quo is self-preservation. There is no more middle ground. People either live, or they die.

Lauren's father didn't make it home on the day the world changed forever, and she misses him more than anything. Now, in What's Left of My World, she and her family must learn to endure life's horrors - without him.

Lets all hope this NEVER happens.

I am a big fan Love End of the world books, you know zombie apocalypse, EMP stories etc..
I will warn you this is not like any other books in this genre. This book is definitely not for the faint hearted. Though violence is to be expected in these types of books this one has the added violence. Some actually made me cringe that people could be like that, or act like that. This is definitely a story worth reading.
I would've given the story five stars, but I'm not a big fan of people jumping back and forth from the past to the present it could be a tad bit confusing. I understand why it happened but not a fan of to much of it. Things didn't really get wrapped up so I am waiting for book two, I think this was a start to a great series

Sequel please!

It's refreshing to see more apocalyptic books with female main characters. This one didn't let me down. I was also pleased that the author kept the plot realistic. I hope this is the beginning of a series. I really want to know what happens next to Lauren and her family.

As usual, Keven Pierce gave an excellent performance. He is the reason I wanted to listen to this book.

It's good, but 1 credit per book?

I enjoyed reading this story strictly for the entertainment value in a topic I like. Obviously some scenarios would not happen as described, but it was a good book.
I can see a many different SHTF scenarios breaking down into similar scenarios.
I am looking forward to the final book.
I think many of the books should have been combined. They are too short and not really worth a credit each. Amazon/Audible needs to combine series into box sets.

Timeline is a bit bouncy but the end set the hook

I am not a huge fan of the bouncing timeline tactics in books but the end really set the hook in me and now I really must buy the next books

Stupidly organized

chapters mixed up to give some idiotic sense of contemporary style. Serves to dramatically reduce the enjoyment of the story.

Good storyline and great narration

Good storyline, didn't have to endure any slow or tedious description as to how the world as we know it ended, just jumped right into the meat of the story.

Great story!!

End of days survivor story, (no zombies). I WILL be purchasing the next book. This well written story places the listener in a reality that could happen --kind of makes me want to start prepping. Credit well spent.

Great Story With a Strong Female Lead

Lauren is a young girl who's father is doing all he can to prepare her for a massive change to her world. He clearly sees the writing on the wall and knows that one day soon the SHTF and the world in which they live in will come to an end. So he tries to prepare his daughter for that new world by teaching her at a very young age to survive in the outdoors and even teaching her things that most fathers wouldn't even dream of teaching their little girls. Teaching her all he can and what he can't teach her he takes her to friends to get the training she needs to not only survive in that world but thrive.

He makes sure she knows everything from firearm safety, to shooting a target to dealing with an active shooter in her neighborhood. She does so well at this at the tender age of 16 that she even impresses a group of military guys at how well she handles herself and her firearm. So much so that they help further her training and she becomes a fast learner and excels in all she sits her mind to do.

Kevin Pierce does a great job at bringing C.A.'s characters to life and draws you into the story where you don't want to stop listening to it. Honestly, I'm writing this review after listening to this series for the 2nd time as the first time I was so draw into the story that I didn't want to stop listening to it just to write the reviews. The pictures in my head that Kevin paints by reading this story helps me see it all take place in my head as if I was watching a movie instead of just listening to a book.
