Publisher's summary

To beat an assassin, become an assassin.

The deep state isn't pleased with the current president. An assassination would put the Vice President in a prime election position - if intelligence specialist Sean Havens doesn't thwart the power players' agenda.

Sent undercover to Martha's Vineyard, a historic presidential summer retreat, Havens is tasked to conduct a recovery under the guise of a routine security assessment in advance of POTUS's arrival.

A new threat is exposed forcing Havens into action with no backup save for a mysterious colleague, the Man from Orange, code named "Birddog".

Unaware of a conspiracy dating back to our forefathers, Sean Havens is forced to trust old enemies in a twisted plot between the CIA, the Pond, and the upcoming presidential election.

But is it Havens himself who is in the cross hairs?

The reader is important.

I really like the Sean Havens series. The reader for this book, while having a great voice makes the book brutal to finish. The cadence was off and made each sentence unrelated to the previous. If I were a new reader to the series it would have been impossible to follow and would have given up.

Sean Havens delivers the action again!

JT gives us another action-packed novel, thank you! I enjoyed how the book picks up where "The Presence of Evil" left off. The prologue set in 1783 was a nice twist. Seeing Sean Havens back in action was outstanding. For me the book was too short. I could have listened for another 8 + hours. I liked knowing that the man from Orange is still out there and he is fighting the good fight. I already have June 23, 2020, marked on the calendar for the next book coming out "Collision Course" I do listen to other Tier one novels, but it's always a great day when I get to listen to one of JT's books. Thank you again for an excellent book!

Narration made it painful

Big fan of JT Patten. Not a fan of the narrator. I kept turning it off and going back to it hoping it I was just imagining how bad it was. The book would’ve been so much more enjoyable otherwise
