I picked this up out of curiosity, but it pulled me in way more than I expected. The mix of financial, political, and personal scandals really paints a complex picture of how power gets used and misused. It doesn’t feel like a dry history lesson either. It connects past scandals to today’s climate in a way that made me reflect on how little has really changed.

I found this to be a very cool audiobook that was both interesting and informative and very entertaining. The seat of the United States President is one of the most powerful in all the land, and as this book details very well, it is not without is fair share of scandal and controversy. The stories presented in this book vary from personal scandals, corruption, financial embezzlement and impeachment drama that all played a significant role on their Presidency and their personal lives. One chapter that stood out to me was about the conspiracy theory on whether or not President Roosevelt knew that Japan was going to attack Pearl Harbor or not. I had not heard this story before, unless it was taught in school as a kid and I forgot. But either way, it was a major scandal that historians still argue about to this day. Did FDR actual know Japan was going to attack Pearl Harbor and he let it happen so that America then had a valid reason for entering WWII? We will never know for sure.

I found it super interesting how the author links past happenings with what's going on today. It's amazing to see these behavior patterns repeat over time! Listening to these stories definitely gets you thinking about our current political scene—some things just never change! Definitely worth a listen!
