About this listen

Clark

I see myself as mature and responsible for a 24-year-old - I have a steady job, a comfortable apartment, and eventually I’ll find the right guy to settle down with. Some might find this boring, but at least I know what I want. That is, until reconnecting with a childhood companion flips my preconceived notions upside down. Skylar was my first real friend - my first crush, too - and 12 years later, he’s still the same gorgeous and charismatic free spirit. I’m easily sucked back into his orbit, my protests futile when it comes to his amusingly harebrained ideas. I can’t let myself fall for him, though, because I’m searching for forever, and he only wants casual.

Skylar

If you’re looking for a good time, I’m your guy. I love hookups, shaking my booty at the club, and having fun. I’ve seen how love can hurt and have mended too many broken hearts to risk my own. Still, having Clark back in my life makes me feel grounded...and sort of mushy inside. It’s not only because his chunky glasses turn him into an adorably hot Clark Kent. It’s also how he makes me feel like I can be more. Which is why hooking up with him is a bad idea. But resisting him becomes impossible, and before I know it, each touch, kiss, and night spent together only makes me crave more.

We want different things, so there’s no way this will last. But Clark makes me consider breaking my rules and trying this boyfriend stuff for real. What’s a guy to do when his best friend steals the heart he’s afraid to give? I guess it comes down to potentially hurting him, or losing the only guy I’ve ever really wanted. Pretty wild, right?

I love a good story that doesn’t need crazy drama to be interesting. Skylar and Clark are two guys who are learning to grow up and find themselves. I also loved that Skylar’s makeup was a only a side issue a couple of times, but wasn’t the focal point of any conflict.

Simple and sweet

Pretty Wild book 3, Boys in Makeup.
sweet as the first two books but, I think my favorite in the series.
Old childhood friends who find each other again.
Clark and Skylar have issues to work through, both see Love and long term relationships so differently.
some how they work so well together and are a perfect fit.
Michael Dean as always gives his all and serves up a remarkable story.
It's nice to see the couples from the first two books along for the ride, a great group of guys that Love so easily in the end.
This book and this series are well worth the credit and your time to listen.

best of the series

I really love this series and was pleased to get Skyler's story. This is a low angst reconnections story between two childhood friends.

Sweet. low angst

Books full of angst are usually not my cup of tea, but the characters in Pretty Wild are well written and the ups and downs of their lives keep the story flowing at a decent pace. Building on the two previos books in the series, you get glimpses of those couples in this book. This story is about opposites, best friends, one who wants deep commitment and the other who absolutely does not. Throw in very strong mothers who are a huge force in both men’s lives, different socio-economic levels, and dreams for their sons... it gets messy. Life is messy, but things work out in the end, lives are changed, and love conquers. Michael Dean does these two main characters well, and you can instantly distinguish them and their mothers from just inflection, tone and accent. Such a great author/narrator combo.

High angst friends to lovers
