About this listen

Cheesecake, beefcake, and a pair of dueling caterers whet someone's appetite for murder in this sinfully delicious novel by the New York Times best-selling author of Sticks & Scones

Caterer Goldy Schulz is convinced things couldn't get worse. An unscrupulous rival is driving her out of business. An incompetent contractor has left her precious kitchen in shambles. And she has just agreed to cater a fashion shoot at a 19th century mountain cabin with her mentor and old friend, French chef André Hibbard.

Together Goldy and André struggle in a hopelessly outdated kitchen to cater to a vacuous crowd of beautiful people whose personal dramas climax when a camera is pitched through a window...into the buffet. Then Goldy's contractor is found hanging in the house of one of her best friends. A second murder follows and Goldy must somehow solve a mystery and prepare for a society soirée that could make - or break - her career.

It's a mystery that involves the dead contractor's unwholesome past, a food saboteur, the theft of four historical cookbooks, and an overzealous D.A. who has suspended Goldy's detective husband, Tom, from the force.

What Goldy discovers is the perfect recipe for murder. And she may be dessert!

A snappy tale from the old west

A fun listen from my favorite caterer. Goldie’s business as well as hubby’s job might both go down the drain as the body count keeps getting higher.

Intriguing Story

Drop the music. It’s disruptive and annoying. Better to have the reading which doesn’t need enhancing

Thumbs up Goldie! Thumbs DOWN Cherry

I'm new to Diane Mott Davidson, and I am loving her books! I find them light, fun and refreshing. OTOH, I find Cherry Jones' narration extremely difficult and unnerving to listen to. Like fingernails over a blackboard. A true disappointment, I have to force myself to just get through the several hours left in Prime Cut. There are 3 more Mott Davidson Audiobooks narrated by Cherry Jones. I will not be wasting my money on the Jones' versions, and will buy print copies instead. The Barbara Rosenblat versions are professional, enjoyable, and very well done. Save your money or Audible credits for the Rosenblat narrations, and don't waste it on the Cherry Jones mangling of the Goldie tales. This audible book just sets my nerves on edge. A shame because Mott Davidson is an enjoyable & entertaining author who deserves better than this. Four stars to Diane Mott Davidson; 1 star for Jones.
