About this listen

Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg have teamed up for a dynamic new series featuring an FBI agent who’s on the hunt - and a master con artist who’s enjoying the chase. The con is on in this audiobook short story that’s a triumphant prequel to The Heist.

FBI special agent Kate O’Hare has made it her mission to nail international con artist Nicolas Fox. When she discovers his plot to plunder a venture capitalist’s 20th-story Chicago penthouse of all its cash and treasures while the self-proclaimed "King of Hostile Takeovers" is getting married, Kate is 85 percent - okay maybe 92 percent - sure that she’s finally going to bag Nick Fox.

Problem is, first Kate has to convince her boss, building security, and maybe even herself, that wedding planner Merrill Stubing is actually Nicolas Fox. Second, she has to figure out how to corner and capture him without disrupting the event of the year. And third, what’s going to happen once O’Hare finally gets her hands on Fox? It’s going take a pro to catch a con before the fireworks over Lake Michigan go off.

Great Marketing

What did you like about this audiobook?

Great preview of the series. I did buy The Heist, and loved it!

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

Not sure why publishers and or authors needed this second short story to promote The Heist, as the other short story did the job. This was just more great insight for what was to come. This was well done and needed its own story of just the full out chase of Fox.

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

This was a great marketing ploy to see if authors had new interest and old fans support!
I got this on sale so it was an even better buy to see if I wanted to invest in the series.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

I love Scott Bricks performance. I have no intension of buying the reads from this author by Lorelei King as I purchased this author due to Scott's performances. Scott has the best inflection for our heroine, making her smart and sexy. Of course he makes Fox sexy as all get out!

Thin but enjoyable teaser prequel.

Best read before reading any of the full length Fox and O'Hare novels. Still enjoyable as a bite size caper if you're already into the series.

Enjoyable

I don't know about you, but I make star reviews to remind myself which authors and narrators I do and don't like. I don't like being required to leave a text review in order to leave a star review. I hope Audible fixes this soon.

While Waiting for Book 3

I read this while waiting for book 3. It is a VERY short story, and just gives you a little taste of what Kate used to deal with regarding Nick back in the day. If I hadn't read the other 2 in the Fox & O'Hare series I wouldn't have enjoyed this as much. I don't usually like narrators like Scott Brick, but I find myself enjoying his dry deep vocal tones narration of this book. Unrealistic outlaw gone good story. I love to hate Nick's targets, and Nick's ability to cover all bases during a con. Well done! *applause*.

Jus great

Second prequel short story. Well crafted and content alluded to in first two novels. Totally worth a listen. Clever and well written.

What Fun!

Too short! But then it's a short story
I just finished reading the Heist and not quite ready to leave O'Hare and Fox. Yes, I think I'll come back for more on audio. Especially loved Scott Brick's narration

Nice Teaser

Where does Pros and Cons: A Short Story rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's not the best but it's not the worst.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I hated him. He made the female character sound whiny and pathetic. His female voices are really lacking.

Who was the most memorable character of Pros and Cons: A Short Story and why?

Obviously it was Nick. He was the most mysterious and most interesting.
