About this listen

From book one:

A fated mate is a rare gem...one I never thought I’d find.

With 15 males born to a single female, women are my people’s most precious resource, one we’re in dire need of replenishing. And Earth is just the place to do it. Arranged matings are the only way we can survive, and as king I must set an example.

But I never thought I’d meet her.

One look at Rosa and I know she’s meant to be my queen. She’s nothing like I imagined, and more than I could ever dare wish for. But humans have only just learned that aliens exist, and I would surrender my kingdom before I forced her into a relationship she doesn’t want.

Time grows short as ancient enemies close in on my home planet, and if we don’t transport our volunteer mates quickly we will run out of time.

I cannot command Rosa to come with us...but I’m more than ready to seduce her into becoming my queen.

A Bit Formulaic

Title: Protectors of Svante
Author: Roxie Ray
Format: Audio
Narrator: Meagan Evans
Standalone: Kind of, not really - the characters' story are complete but the overarching story is not
Part of a Series: Books 1 and 2 of the Protectors Of Svante Series (currently these are the only book in this series)
Steam Level: Not much

Book 1: A Bride For The Alien King
Genre: SciFi Alien Romance, Royalty, Fated Mates, Action
Standalone: Kind of, not really - Rosa and Quatix' story is complete but the overarching story is not
POV: Rosa and Quatix
4/5

A Bride for the Alien King is book 1 in the Protectors of Svante series. While Rosa and Quatix's story is complete, the overarching storyline is not. Rose is from Earth, stumbling upon a secret alien bride exchange program. Setting out to stop it, she agrees to go instead, being drawn to the Alien King. The action starts almost immediately, making thing quite the adventure for Rosa. I liked the different alien characters and battles that occur. I'm listening to this series in a set which is good because I didn't want to leave this world and want to see what happens next.

Book 2: The Alien Protector's Mate
Genre: SciFi Alien Romance, Fated Mates, Action
Standalone: Kind of, not really - Terrox and Vivian's story is complete but the overarching story is not
POV: Terrox and Vivian
Steam Level: Not much
3.5/5

The Alien Protector's Mate is the second book in the Protectors of Svante series. While this is a fun series I found this book to be slow, despite the action scenes. I also got annoyed with both Vivian and Terrox and how neither thought they were good enough for the other, how the other didn't feel the way they did and neither talked to each other or listened when actually trying to have a conversation. I found myself just wanting it to end.

I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsession. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Could not develop empathy

Thinking that maybe the story was just starting out slow, I got through to chapter 23 and finally just had to give it up. The story just felt contrived and I could not develop interest in it. I kept finding my mind wandering through a lot of the story.

reader is awful.

there was no emotion to the reader. at one point there's a battle scene and it was so bland that I didn't even realize it was a battle. the reader said "no....dont..." like the main character didn't care but then it said she was scared. good story terrible reader. not work the credit.
