Truly an eye-opener!

This audiobook is an eye-opener. It has made me aware of the great effects of manipulation. I have learned many strategies used by great manipulators in this book. Now I know how they influence people by transmitting the right message through their body language and by using powerful nonverbal communication. This subtle art of persuasion is so subtle and often covert if done well. However, knowing this information as well as many more we can apparently get just by observing mannerisms and non-verbal cues, this book also dealt with the ethical use of these techniques for those who don’t want to be the bad guy. Is there really an ethical way of doing it? This book has the truth that will help you find your own answers.

Some important things I learned

The incredible impact of controlling this audiobook has opened my eyes. Manipulation is the conscious act of causing someone to do a certain thing or act in a certain way. Manipulation is clever, skillful, and sometimes unscrupulous. Manipulation is not always a bad thing.

A nice book to listen to about a fascinating topic

This is a good audiobook on this topic. I have read some similar books but this book has finally set the score on some of my mind boggling questions on the right perspectives about psychological manipulation. Maybe if we know better, many of us may find ourselves guilty of using some sort of psychological tricks to get what we want. Only in this book have I found that there is a strong and powerful difference between a dark manipulative personality and an influential personality. I have learned to define true power in my own terms just by the insights and sometimes questions raised by this book. This is an interesting twist of the world of psychological mind games you know.

Thank you Emory Green!

It’s a relief to listen to things I can certainly relate to having experienced being manipulated by a psychopath for many years. I am now out of that situation and certainly happy that I’m through, but the damage it has caused needs some healing that I wonderfully found in this book. You must understand before you truly heal. I think I finally have the courage to end my psychological abusive relationship spinning in circles in my head, because now I understand how and why things happened the way it did.

Good story and narration

This audio book gives a great explanation of the why and how psychological abuse develops backed by professional analysis and a survivor’s story. It’s a must read for anyone but especially people in a toxic relationship.

Great for the weekend

I love a good entertaining audiobook to listen to on weekends. This doesn’t disappoint because it is surprisingly easy to understand even if I had expected it not to be because of the deeply scientific and complex topic. This one is for those who wouldn’t want the technical terms and the jargon, but wants to understand some complex topics in psychology in layman’s terms or seemingly from someone who cares enough to explain these things to ordinary people. You will have to listen with an open-mind though and listen carefully to the true message inside this book. You might miss it but I did not. It had offered me the wisdom I would gladly take along the way.

Never again.

I enjoyed this audiobook so much. As someone who has felt taken advantage of on more than one occasion, I found the information useful for preventing any kind of said occurrence from happening again. After reading, I felt like I would be more likely to be able to recognize when something like this was taking place again

Recommended book for this topic

The author is seemingly at ease with discussing the controversial and the interesting yet odd topics to discuss in Psychology. You will not get this from other books. The flow of thoughts feels natural, as well as unbiased. It gives you the right amount of information at a time and does not bombard you with jargons. Awesome book on this topic!

Competent and consistent language

Dearest listeners, I hope you find this message. I want you to understand that this is an awesome audio book. Despite the writer's understanding about the issue, the author was still competent and consistent to translate to a language everyone can understand. I was most amazed with that. This is what was actually offered to me in the author's book.
