Publisher's summary

Understand, avoid, and defeat the subconscious causes of your irrational and self-defeating behaviors. It’s only human nature.

A psychological trigger is something that causes us to act out of urgency - not correctness or even happiness. It’s a switch that is flipped outside of our consciousness. This is fertile ground for some of the worst decisions of our lives.

Seize control and of your impulses and make better decisions. Psychological Triggers is an introduction to yourself - your impulses, your desires, and everything in your subconscious that drives you to action. It answers the question “why did I just make a terrible choice when I know I shouldn’t have?”

We are all slaves to our triggers, and this book seeks to identify them to better battle them. We might think we are making our decisions independently and out of free will, but you’ll discover that to be far from reality.

Master your psychology, master your life.

Peter Hollins has studied psychology and peak human performance for over a dozen years and is a best-selling author. He has worked with a multitude of individuals to unlock their potential and path toward success. His writing draws on his academic, coaching, and research experience.

  • Think clearly and triumph over your human nature.
  • The triggering effects of social pressure and conformity.
  • How everyday emotions are behind some of the most powerful triggers.
  • Natural, biological, evolutionary human drives - can you regulate them?
  • Simple thinking traps we all fall victim to.
  • The notion of free will and whether it truly exists.

Beat psychological triggers, reclaim your free will and irrationality.

Is purely rational thinking, devoid of emotion and human drives, a reality? Probably not. But you can certainly live free from your worst impulses and irrational hunches, which are what psychological triggers create more often than not. See yourself thrive from consistently making beneficial decisions and defeating your primal psychology.

Interesting and an easy listen!

Love this book, I was hooked after the first chapter. Lots of amazing experiments explained and clearly described. The voice actor is clean spoken and engaging in a controlled yet conservation like dialog!

A broad, high level view into psychology

This work is a very high-level view of psychology and the triggers that affect us. It provides both facts and examples. Some of the material may seem common sense, but I don't know if many of us stop to put all of these points together as the author does. I think the material is presented in a way that combines what we know and fills in many of the blanks between. This is certainly not a deep dive into psychology but gives the reader the broad strokes.

The narration was great. The reader's voice is well suited for this material.

I learned things about myself!

I was not disappointed as the information helped me understand some things about myself for my betterment. I like Steve Campbells performance, and I feel grateful to Peter Hollins for this work; moreover, I found the information worthy of repeating the book a second time. I recommend this book especially for younger people as I believe it will help with their development. I would like to see this in our educational system – perhaps for high school seniors or college freshmen.

Good read. I learned much about triggers.

The book is a good review of many of the unconscious triggers that influence our behaviors and helps us to take back control.

Really enjoyed listening to this audiobook about Psychological Triggers - what they are, what to do, etc.

A must read

I recently read (listened to) Surrounded by Idiots, The Hidden Brain, and this book. I think all three books compliment each other. But what I enjoyed most about this one, is the psychological terms and break downs. This is a must read book if you’re interested in psychological triggers and understanding human behaviors. I plan to buy a hard copy too!
After finishing this book, I obtained a greater understanding of my thoughts and actions.
