About this listen

What happened after the happily ever after?

You all know the story of your favorite fairy tale, but did you ever wonder what happened after the fairy-tale ending? Well, we know. Not all afters end up happily; sometimes the real adventure starts much later....

No one understands what it's like when your mother is famous for her beauty and you are, at best, average. Actually I'm wrong. She wasn't famous just for her beauty, but that's how people tell the story, how people have always told the story. That was even her name for a while. No one remembered her real name. She was just the sleeping princess or Sleeping Beauty. Even all these years later, when the royals appear in the paper, my father, the king, barely gets a mention, and I'm only a footnote in my own life, destined to always be Sleeping Beauty's daughter.

My name's Princess Azia Rose of Draconis, and here is my story....

Following famous fairy-tale characters, 18 years after their happily ever after, the Kingdom of Fairytales offers an edge-of-the-seat thrill ride in an all-new and sensational way to listen to.

Great Listen

I liked this book the story was engaging and the narration was not too bad. There are a lot of questions left that I hope leads to another book. Who wouldn’t want two men fighting for the attentions of one woman. She does seem a little spoiled but hopefully she grows out of it in the next book. One of the men seems to be out for himself and a tad bit self-centered and kind of mean. The other one seems to be a good man who genuinely likes the young lady. I guess we will find out what happens with the dragons in the next book.

Original Sleeping Beauty's Daughter Story!

This is the first book of four in the Season One of the Kingdom of Fairytales Sleeping Beauty, an intricate and original Sleeping Beauty's daughter story. Azia Rose is a wonderful character, strong, and determined. Her story is fast-paced and entertaining. The story ends with a cliffhanger, and I am looking forward to listen to Heiress of Embers, the next book in the Series. Melody Muzijakovich did an entertaining read of the story.

What a wonderful sleeping beauty part two

Sleeping beauty is sleeping again, her true loves kiss is it waking her and those dragons polluting and plummeting the kingdom not to mention their oldest daughter Sara is having nightmares of a woman with a horn hat wanting her to touch the spin the wheel needle and all this on top of her being forced to marry the man who saved her mother the first time around who is old enough to be her dad. This story was so good I loved it by the way her name isn’t Sara it’s Aurora or something like that. Anyway I love this book not to mention the narrator is freaking awesome when I first heard a voice I was like oh sounds like a little kids reading the book but by the third sentence I was in I was like she is so awesome she does the multiple voices with confidence and a very believable. You don’t even need introduction as the story goes on as she doesn’t voices you know who’s speaking. She is so awesome I hope she does the next book.

YA start to fantasy romance

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

It's a quick listen that was just interesting enough to keep me entertained, but it's definitely your typical YA fantasy novel with a good bit of relationship drama, so not my usual genre at all. Still, if any YA readers want to start getting into this genre, this would be a great starting point. Characters were developed enough and the plot was kind of vague at first, but you eventually understand what's going on, even if you guessed it from the title. I'm not sure what the allure of her mother being Sleeping Beauty was, but I'd guess it's to bring in young readers. She could have just been a well-liked queen. Azia is strangely self-aware for her age, which is typical with female heroines, and way too "strong" if you know what I mean. Narration was fine; some characters sounded too sharp and angry when they didn't necessarily have to be. Overall, not a bad read under any circumstances, but not my kind of novel.

Enticing

I like what Armitage does with this story. A continuation of sleeping beauty with her daughter. If you liked the Lunar Chronicles by Meyer then you will like this! I can’t wait for the next book!

Engaging Family Fare

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and any opinions expressed herein are my own.

This story is not a re-telling of Sleeping Beauty but rather the story of Sleeping Beauty picks up when her daughter Azia is told that her parents have arranged her marriage - trouble is that Azia does not like her soon-to-be husband and wants to embark on her own adventures. So, she tells a white lie to keep the marriage at bay...

This is the first book in the series. It is not a standalone and does end on a cliffhanger. Having said that, the story about Azia trying to come into her own is very engaging but the undercurrent to Azia's hope for independence is Sleeping Beauty's curse and how Sleeping Beauty was actually rescued. I found the way the author deftly wove together Azia's story and Sleeping Beauty's story to be very interesting and at the end of this book, I found myself wanting to know more. This is great family fare.

The narrator, Melody Muzljakovich, is terrific. She makes these characters come alive through her narration. She provides distinct voices for all of the characters and made this a very enjoyable and entertaining listen.

Great!

Great story, Great narrator!
But, I hate cliffhangers....
Especially when the next is not available.

Combination Fairytale & Fantasy

J. A. Armitage has combined components of the "Sleeping Beauty" Fairytale and elements of Fantasy to produce a new and creative story that enchants readers from the beginning. The only drawback is that this book ends on a cliffhanger. Melody Muzljakovich's narration is good and her voice is expressive adding to the enjoyment of the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Fabulous!

Queen of Dragons is a fantastic fairytale, a clever spin on a classic, The Sleeping Beauty. J.A. Armitage did a superb job with this story, it's wonderfully written and quite enjoyable. Princess Azia Rose yearns for independence, so when she learns that her parents have arranged a marriage for her, so she evades it. The storyline is engaging with drama and a dash of romance.

Excellent narration by Melody Muzljakovich; she truly brought the story to life. Overall, this was a fabulous listen, and I'm eagerly anticipating the next book in the series. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
