About this listen

It's a lovely little life Kelly Seaton leads. He's got his own landscaping business, a nice little house, and his best friend, Cosimo Renaldi, and Coz's goofball family who have adopted Kelly as their own. Sure, it's a little lonely at night, but it's a sweet deal, and Kelly can't chance ruining it by letting on that he wants more - has always wanted more - with Coz.

Then Kelly's past comes to town, bringing bad memories and hurt feelings that start to break Kelly down, and Coz just doesn't understand why Kelly won't let him be the support and strength that Kelly's always been for him. They've already been through war, Coz's devastating injury, and starting new careers in Mangrove, Florida. Why shouldn't they face their chaotic pasts and build their future of quiet nights... together?

Another great story from Mangrove! Greg is THE BEST narrator in the business! My only complaint ;) I wanted 3 more chapters! Fabulous story Mary!

More wonderful fun with Mary and Greg

Oh Mary, how I love thee, let me count the ways!

This is the second book in her new Mangrove Stories series. So… yep we get to see Dwyer and Takeo again. (Yay!)

Kelly and Coz are best friends and have been since their days in the military. Kelly is Coz’s de-facto brother, his family disowned him for being gay. Kelly saved Coz’s life but Coz still lost an arm, and as a result still feels inadequate in the realm of romance.

Takeo actually is to be credited with pushing Kelly and Coz together, because it is his matchmaking endeavors that sort of push Coz into dating which makes Kelly so jealous he can’t see straight!

This is a short story, so we get a little build up and a little steamy smexy times and lots and lots of warm feels.

One of my favorite quotes from the book illustrates this exactly. Coz is talking to Kelly. “You’re who I think of telling shit to, who I miss even when I’m busy doing something and you’re who I want to roll over on top of in the morning.” See? Build up, smexy times, and lots of great feels!

Audio

Greg Tremblay did an amazing job with this. I just love diving into his stories – he is so compelling – adding a layer to Mary’s work that just makes everything exponentially wonderful.

Meh

Characters not as interesting as the others others in this series. I liked the others as they were more off the wall.

Tremblay make wine from water

I've come to enjoy the quiet town of Mangrove, Florida and their residents and how they are finding each other.

This second installment is about Kelly Seaton and his best friend, Cosimo "Coz" Renaldi. They've been best friends since meeting in the army. Kelly is the reason Coz is still alive. Kelly saved Coz's life during deployment when the car they were driving came under heavy enemy fire. Coz lost his arm, but survives because Kelly dragged him out of the wrecked car. Coz's family all of "adopted" Kelly, since he doesn't have a family of his own. Coz and Kelly stayed tight, Kelly yearning for Coz for a long time, but haven't acted on his attraction and love out of fear of loosing Coz and their family.

It was nice seeing the characters from #1, and also possible new characters.

Me likes, 'cause Tremblay kinda make wine out of water, meaning he makes an okay story great with his narration.

Heartwarming and funny.

Kelly is treated as the 3rd sibling in the Renaldi family consisting of his love interest Cosimo, Cosimo’s sister Mia and their mother Mrs. Renaldi. Narrator Greg Tremblay’s comedic timing and voicings for all characters, especially for everyone’s reaction to Mrs. Renaldi’s own romance had me doubled over in laughter. Ofcourse, my favourite part is the romance between Kelly and Cosimo and the gorgeous relationship they share before they become “involved.” Once involved, they are sigh-worthy and my heart melted at the loving words that brought them together.

There are 5 stand-alone novellas in this series. The first, Blue Days, and the fourth, Easy Evenings, are my favourites for the emotional tugs on my heart. Quiet Nights comes in at 3rd favourite. Although it doesn't carry the same emotional punch for me, it is still tender and enjoyable. And very funny.

I highly recommend the Audible version for all 5 stories because Greg Tremblay is narration perfection. I have already re-listened to many of the stories in this series because they are wonderful entertainment and Greg Tremblay enhances the romantic experience.

My only complaint is that whether Audible or Kindle/Amazon, each book in the series is pricy for its length. On the flipside, as I am listening to them again and again, they’ve turned out to be a sound investment.

Great Romance Story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! It's a short sweet romance story. A unseen love between two men who have been through a lot together.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cos. He persevered after the loss of his arm and didn't let him slow him down.

What does Greg Tremblay bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Oh he brought the humor and life to each character so it felt like they were right in front of me talking instead of in a book I was reading.

If you could rename Quiet Nights (Mangrove Stories), what would you call it?

I think the name works perfect.

short and humorous, and hilarious

Any additional comments?

The introduction to the characters is downright hilarious. To be honest, the whole book is hilarious. Between Kelly running away from the man he thought he loved, to Coz getting all angry at him and then Coz’s mother Annie talking about her renewed sex life, there’s so much to love about this book. I was literally laughing!
