About this listen

Growing up with three older brothers, Larissa "Riss" Thorpe defines the term tomboy - a moniker that never mattered to her until she crossed paths with sexy cowboy player Ike Palmer. Seeing him in action on the road, Riss can tell that Ike prefers his women soft-spoken and feminine. And since Riss is obviously not his type, it's unlikely that they'll mix business and pleasure when they're in close quarters together.

Former cattle broker Ike Palmer was ready for a new chapter in his life as a stock contractor when he started working with Riss, a sassy truck driver who gets under his skin at every turn. But Riss is unlike any woman he's ever met, and her candor inflames him in the most unexpected ways.

After circumstances force a truce between them, Riss and Ike will have to choose to maintain the stubbornness that keeps them apart or take a chance on the fiery attraction that could lead to something more....

Contains mature themes.

Had a hard time with being able to tell the difference between the male voices. Male voices weren't very good in the first place. Otherwise the storyline was okay.

Male Voices Not Too Good

i thought it was a little slow but all the tension built up to a sexy awesome love story

loved it

This isn’t like the other books by her, don’t get me wrong, it’s a very good emotional romance and I can recommend it. However, I buy her books for the plentiful erotic sex along with the great stories, this one fell very short in the sex department. It did have some good sex scenes, but took forever to have any, it did have a lot of sexual tension and bantering, just not as you come to expect from her. Hope she’s not changing her writing style. I did really enjoy the storyline and the story itself, just not what I thought I was getting.

I have read all of the books in the Blacktop Cowboys series. This one, I can honestly say stands out from the rest in how difficult accepting the relationship is for our main characters. Most people want to believe that falling in love is all roses and chocolate but after a lifetime avoiding true intimacy our main characters are hesitant about allowing anyone close enough to become vulnerable.

Boring. Not good narrator voice.

These two characters- Ike and Larissa- has a sparky interesting relationship until it was tome for their story and then they get boring. Larissa is indecisive and talks for the sake of talking. She seems pretty put together but is relationship shy. She sums herself up in the last chapter. Ike appears to be a sexy player on the outside but is a very wimpy guy who has trouble making career decisions and is happy to have to have his life run by his sisters and then Rissa. The book just ends with a bland ending. Some sexy scenes towards the end and some sweet scenes and foul language. Scarlet Chase does fine with female voices but is not great with the males. Not really worth a credit.

Disappointing given previous buildup
