About this listen

Book 2 of the Space Wolf Series

Grandfather Nurgle spreads a deadly plague across an Imperial planet. The young Ragnar Blackmane responds to the Inquisition’s call for aid, but can he save the world in time?

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It's a rip-roaring action-adventure tale that pits the Young Wolf and his pack against the might of the forces of the Plague God. It's got a very memorable Great Unclean One and an insight into the Space Wolves' relationship with the Inquisition.

THE STORY

A deadly plague is ravaging the planet of Aerius, and millions of Imperial citizens are dying. Inquisitor Sternberg turns to the fearsome Space Wolves for aid in recovering the ancient Talisman of Lykos, which he believes can cure the corruption ravaging the world. Ragnar Blackmane and his squad of Blood Claws embark on a near-suicidal mission to retrieve the talisman before it is too late. But this is no ordinary plague, and the servants of Nurgle await the Space Wolves. Will they be able to overcome the forces of Chaos, or is Aerius doomed?

Written by William King. Narrated by Phillip Sacramento. Running time is 10 hours and 56 minutes (approx).

Outstanding writing. The Narration is perfect. I loved this whole series. The best I've listened to since the Horus Hersey. Has some great serious bloody battles. Suspense and intrigue. Humor too, My favorite part is the witty banter and good natured ribbing between Ragnar and his battle brothers. Anyone who's been to combat with a tight nit group of warriors will recognize and appreciate how spot on it is. I was emotionally invested in not only Ragnar but the secondary characters as well. When one would fall in battle I felt it, I cared. I listened to the while series back to back and couldn't wait for the next. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

Superb in everyway

Everything feels in place here, a must read for any Space Wolf fan. Marines feel like marines, they're survivable but can't do everything. While the supporting human cast more than makes up for their fragility!

More Classic Ragnar!

This book was even better than the first in the series, which I loved. William King and Phillip Sacramento are such a winning 1-2 combination! King's writing highlights the best of what makes Space Wolves unique, but he also knows how to write Orks and Chaos as well. Sacramento's narration is so engaging, I didn't want to stop listening. He really nails the "space viking" aesthetic with his voices for each character, without being too hammy.

This is a must-listen for any 40k fan, but especially for Space Wolves fans!

Absolutely Recommend

At 30:04 in chapter 7. “He indeed might drown.” 3rd lung prevents that Mr. King. Still love the story though.

Enjoyed the many adventures of Ragnar leaving his home world. If you appreciated the first book, this one is a no-brainer. Epic story with a wonderful narrator.
