About this listen

Veteran homicide detective Franza Oberwieser prefers her job in the winter. Summer is for growing, not for dying. So when the body of a beautiful young woman is found on the autobahn, dressed in a glittering party dress and bathed in June rain, Franza is determined to give her justice.

Revealing victims’ hidden lives is part of the job, but as Franza and her partner, Felix, peel back the layers shrouding the girl’s disturbing past, darker mysteries emerge. Everyone has something to hide - even Franza, who must face her own secrets to reveal the truth.

Had a hard time following and really wanted to stop multiple times. Overall the ending was ok but still very confusing and hard to follow.

Very hard to follow

The tale of a girl who was killed on the autoban on a rainy night. Interesting characters with very complicated lives at work and at home. The mystery kept my interest and had many surprises through out the story.

Marie the unknown girl.

I had to push myself to finish it. There are references to people and situations that are never explained. I kept thinking that I missed a prior book in the series but there isn't any. It doesn't flow.

Starts off slowly, then gets better in the middle. Does a good job of depicting the killer losing a grip on things. Turned out better than I thought it would.

Scary

There are just so many coincidences one can accept when it comes to mysteries. This book, though reasonably well written, had too many large coincidences. The translation was generally good, but occasionally not.

Okay mystery but....

If you could sum up Rain Girl in three words, what would they be?

TYPICAL COP STORY

Would you recommend Rain Girl to your friends? Why or why not?

NO, I WASN'T IMPRESSED, I FELT AS IF I WAS LISTENING TO THE TV SHOW "LAW AND ORDER!"

What about Laural Merlington’s performance did you like?

SHE TRIED....

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I DID.

They deserve each other. Couldn't get beyond an hour. Plus bad technicals - echo chamber effect. Complete waste of cyberspace.

Don't know which was worse, story or narration

What this. book needs despethe author to learn how to abbreviate the urge to consider every aspect of the sturm und drang in the life of a homicide detective.

Trite & interminable

There was a lot of "Mama Drama" in this book. I don't really care about hearing everyone's personal messy life drama. I want more of the actual Crime story. The more I heard about Franza's personal life, the more I disliked her. It's hard to get into a story when you dislike the main character so much. When it did get around to the actual solving of the crime, it was anticlimactic. I had already figured everything out, and was just waiting for the climax, which never really came. I was very disappointed, and will not continue on with the series.
There was actually a point for a great "Aha" moment, but she ruined it by telling us too much ahead of time, so even that moment in the middle of the story, was ruined. Disappointing book.

Too much Mama Drama

Absolutely without a doubt, the worst book I have ever heard. Period end of sentence.
